Remarks
I would say mostly positive. There are some really great moments. However as the college is away from the capital city of Kolkata, we miss some of the events that the city hosts. Sometimes the college faculty meddle with the student's personal life which is very annoying.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is as per the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University Of Technology mandated for the stream of Instrumentation and Control Engineering. The exam structure is again as per the university. Each year was divided into two semesters. The first year primarily consisted of basic engineering subjects, maths, basic coding language and similar practical labs.
Placement Experience
The overall job opportunities are moderate. Some Indian IT giants such as Wipro, Tech Mahindra came on campus for recruitment. Many other departmental companies also came for recruitment. The department also arranged for some off campus placement drives. However the overall placement at the end of the course was about 70 to 75 percent as per my knowledge. The college did provide for a summer project/ internship opportunities but it was not paid. On the other hand some of the trainings would cost us to take.
College Events
My college was culturally enriched. Many cultural programs and events were celebrated throughout the year. Annual cultural fest Riveira, Annual Tech Fest Prayukti, Independence day celebrations, Saraswati Puja, Holi and many many more.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is quite feasible compared to other colleges. Overall per semester tuition and hostel fee was around 40,000 INR. Additional charges like the library charge, sports fee etc were also feasible.
Fees and Financial Aid
I believe the college offers special scholarship faculty to students belonging from poor economic condition. However this needs to be discussed with the college management. There are many scholarships available from the WB government for economically challenged individuals like TFW that waives off tution fees entirely.
Campus Life
Sports is awesome in the college. The college is obsessed with the intradepartmental football tournament as well as the cricket tournament. Annual sports competition of different activities is also arranged. Many different indoor games like table tennis carrom, basketball, etc are available. The college also has many different student clubs, musical activities, street plays etc.
Hostel Facilities
I opted for hostel. I had stayed at the college hostel for my entire college life. The hostel infrastructure is good. The hostel fee is 7200INR per semester. The food bill needs to be paid separately. The hostel food is not quite impressive but one can get by. The food is also inexpensive. The rooms are big and airy. Each room is shared by 4 students from the same year and mostly same department. A bed and mattress, study table, chair is provided for the students. However it's better to keep a suitcase or trunck for important stuffs. As there are many hostels and of different year within the huge college campus, periodic skirmishes are bound to break out. I always took those as positive experience.
Alumni/Alumna
We boast a strong and brilliant alumni network. We shared a great bond with our seniors. The seniors were very helpful and guided us through many situations that you don't learn about in your classrooms.
Faculty
The Departmental faculty is diverse and mostly knowledgeable on their respective fields. The faculty were punctual at their classes and classes were taken as per the schedule. The lab faculty were also good.
