Course Curriculum Overview

4

1) The curriculum definitely aligns with MAKAUT as well as gate syllabus, so super relevant no matter how you look at it. For practical knowledge everyone has to go for YouTube and we are no exception. 2) Labs are conducted regularly and you have to take the reading yourself and do the calculations, graphs etc yourself only, so the curriculum prepares one well for real life. 3) I wish equipments were more in EE Lab. As it's hard to understand the concepts easily when 7-8 students are using one single equipment. This is not the case in Chem lab where almost everyone gets one equipment each. 4) EE lab exam is super hard. You have to do every experiment, circuit building alone and take the readings alone as well. The not-so-helpful classes before exam doesn't help much either. 5) Assignments and class tests are extremely frequent and as much as I hate them, I have to admit those are the only things that help me stay disciplined and consistent with my studies

Internships Opportunities

1

Most internship opportunities available are bogus. Either you have to pay for the internship. Which no sane minded person would advise you to do. Or it's an unpaid labour so try to get one on your own from off campus from websites like linkedln or internshala. The college does have a collab with internshala so that's a good opportunity though.

Placement Experience

3

From seventh semester or fourth year students are considered eleigible for campus placements. The placement is nothing exceptional to be honest. Especially for core branches. But if you are in circuital branches you can sit for both core as well as IT companies. Some of the regular companies visiting are, TCS, INFOSYS, ITC Infotech, Cognizant, IBM, Smartkid Education, Nineleaps technology etc. The average package for EE students would be approx around 3-4 lakhs at most. Many from core branches go for GATE, or government exams in engineering. My own plan is to go for a masters after this course or try for Central Government EE jobs

Fees and Financial Aid

Per year fees is 139000 INR. First year would be 171500, but rest years are 139000 INR. For annual income below 2.5 lakh per year, you would fall into TFW category and you don't have to pay any tuition fees. Just the hostel fees if you opt for it.

Campus Life

3

1) No annual or technical festivals that are huge to be honest. But almost on every weekend you get plenty of events organised by the numerous clubs. Most branches also have their own magazines where you can publish your writings, poems, paintings etc. 2) A good range of books and journals are available. We have books for every branches in engineering, some good books for practical exams too which help us a lot. And racks of books in pure sciences too. Along with story books and scientific journals. 3) Basketball, football and cricket are the only sports available on campus. I wish badminton and table tennis were offered too but unfortunately they aren't. 4) Student run clubs for drama, coding, writing, debate etc are there, which you can join from second semester. Oh right, there's also an archery club. So that's fun too.

Admission

I applied to plenty of state engineering colleges and only made it to UIT, BU which has awful facilities and a good ragging culture. So I opted out and went to a private college. Among private colleges, as far as I know, WB, IEM and Heritage are considered to be better. IEM's strict uniform code, zero campuses made me choose Heritage over IEM. The admission process is 1) Through West Bengal Joint counselling, which I went through, 2) Management Quota. Also, another reason why I picked Heritage over other private colleges is that it's fees is lower compared to other private colleges in west Bengal.

Faculty

3

Faculty to student ratio is quite good actually. We have a total of 9 professors in first year, counting the lab technicians out of course. Faculties are well approachable regarding doubts, exams, study related matters etc. Some faculties don't teach so well, and that's the only reason why many don't like them. Exams are just the two end sem ones in first and second semester . But plenty, plenty of surprise tests which contribute to overall cgpa. No one really fails. But you have to study hard to get 8-9 CGPA which is important for placements or if you want to upgrade your branch.

Interview Experience

5

No Group discussion, No interview, no tests. You just give West Bengal joint. Well unless you are rich and can afford management quota and go through the regular counselling process. The PI reporting is smooth and you get AC in the reporting room. A luxury to us cause no AC in classrooms and unless you sit right below the fan you won't even feel comfortable in summer

Night Life

2

Nightlife Non existent for girls, you gotta get back inside your hostel before like 6 pm and give attendence even. Thankfully I didn't opt for it and went for a pg. The library closes at 8 pm. So if you aren't staying in hostel you can stay there, and even in the canteen which is great but way too crowdy so I don't like it there. No gym. This isn't some super-rich college like Amity.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
