What Students Say
Likes
- The freedom that comes with being part of the government institution and having the opportunity to ask for changes from management if they took harmful decisions
- Choices in project work were entirely ours and the guides are only there to help along the way and not dictate the project as a whole
- There's a good boys to girls ratio in class
Dislikes
- Faculty availability for subjects were scarce
- Faculty were not helpful at all in the learning process all of it is self study
- Study materials are not provided for learning
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is not updated at all. We learn the same basics and math that people who graduated years ago learn. The curriculum by itself does not prepare you for real world applications, it's the project and other internship work you do that does that. Teaching methods can be improved and the course can be spanned out better so the exams are not so often close together.
Fees and Financial Aid
First semester fees including exam registration and college fees was around 14k. Then each semester, there is college fees around 5k and University registration fees for each semester examination that costs around 5k (depending on number of subjects and lab) Each lab exam fee is 500. Other categories like SC/ST have reduced fees.
Campus Life
Every even semester - S2, S4, S6, S8 there's fests of the college. There is Dhwani, the cultural fest. Then there's Drishti, the technical fest. Along with these there are department wise technical fests like Tesla - electrical dept fest etc. Library is very well arranged and accessible but you need to get seperate approval for accessing e journals from your laptop. That should be available without barriers. Technology in classrooms is poor. There's lots of sports on campus and recruitment to university teams for basketball, football, badminton, tennis etc.
Admission
You have to clear KEAM entrance examination with a good rank for admission to this college. This was my top choice. My college is the best engineering college under KTU and hardest to get into. I was glad I got in here in my first try. Therefore I did not choose other colleges under KTU.
Faculty
Faculty are not at all approchable. The Faculty to student ratio is small, there's not enough faculty in the subjects we are specializing to teach it properly. Course curriculum is outdated, it's the basics and not very relevant in current scenario. There are 2 series exams and one final exam. Students clear them often.
Interview Experience
No there was no GD or interview for admission to the college. But a Written test was conducted before admissions called KEAM for the admission process. It's an entrance examination for admission to all colleges under KTU. I prepared my 12th topics.
Night Life
Night life is great around campus. Campus is active till 9 at night until the hostels close for curfew. Hostel curfew is till 9 pm after that the gate is closed. There's gyms, cafeteria called BBG and other hotels all around campus. Technical facilities are available till 8
