Remarks

Good Remark: The college environment made it possible for me to have great friends and be the person who I have become. The teachers and facilities of well-equipped labs, guest lectures, events, library, etc. made it possible for us to have a great campus life. Bad Remark: The college management needs to update the library norms that they have (which made it difficult for us to have books for the weekend to study) and also need to provide students with better placement opportunities from the same field as the specializations.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The first year into the college would introduce you to all the specializations offered in the honors program post which you will need to select one of the major and minor specializations. The course would offer theory and practical classes both to be able to cope up with the application of the things you are studying. There would be proper classes conducted for each and would be marked for the attendance as well. There were semester exams that were conducted and also had internals to mark our performance through presentations or assignments or tests. The curriculum made us have a better understanding of the efforts required to ut into our work to make it applicable in real-life situations, thus making us more aware and adaptive to professional life.

Placement Experience

2.5

The college was helpful enough to train us through the regular guest lectures and drives that were conducted in the department. But as far as campus recruitment is concerned, Lady Irwin College did not have that. There was help provided by the faculty to recommend us to some of the organizations they had contacts with, but other than that there is no such placement or recruitment drive conducted. Internships offered were also through the contacts of the teachers or through the common placement cell of the University of Delhi.

College Events

5

Lady Irwin College had always been keen on joining the cultural societies of the college. There were regular events conducted by the student union of the college with the help of the college management. The annual cultural festival of the college was called QUINTESSENCE, that is conducted every year during the months of February-March. It usually is a 3 day festival with various events and competitions conducted among the various college cultural societies of colleges in Delhi-NCR. Also, there are celebrity nights during the event with various national and international artists visiting. Also, there are other events conducted such as DJ evening, fresher's talent contest, farewell and other cultural programs throughout the year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The admission fee for the first semester when I joined the college(2014) was around Rs. 17,000 that included the course fee, admission fee, other expenses (alumni fee, library fee, college maintenance fee, etc.) and also the security charges. The second-semester fee was around Rs.6,000.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, I did not avail any kind of scholarship or education loan for my graduation. Though there were scholarships and rewards provided by the college to meritorious students who excelled in academics or cultural front.

Campus Life

5

Campus Life at lady Irwin College was as happening as at any other college of the University of Delhi. Easily accessible by metro made it easier for the students to reach the campus. Located in close vicinity to various art galleries, art, and acting schools, exhibition ground, etc. made it easier for the students to be able to enjoy the cultural diversity of the country. Lady Irwin College was women college but the girls were no less than boys. We had girls from all over the country and a few international students as well. We had a semester exchange program in the university with Michigan State University where we had students from there as well for a short time period.

Alumni/Alumna

The college had alumni meet that is conducted in the college with an alumnus from batches back to the 80s. The senior students were also helpful with guiding us through the right choices of books for exams and also the future prospects involved after completing the course.

Admission

I got admitted to the college on a merit basis. The process included going through the admission guidelines as provided by the University of Delhi. Since my percentage was between 75-80%, I got through the second cut-off in the honors program. The process included applying through the common application form available on the website for the University of Delhi and filling the courses that we were interested in. We had to then wait for the cut-off and post which we had to visit the college for the admission and pay fees and submit documents for the admission. The admission dates were the same as that of the University of Delhi. The admission started usually after the board results were out by CBSE for class 12th. The admission months were usually June-July.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty of the college helped to bring the best out of us. The personal interactions involved during the tutorial classes made things even better when it came to the student-teacher bonding. The faculty was helpful enough to guide us on what could be the best thing for us both in the academic and professional front.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum consists of relatable topics and interesting ones as well this is what quite influenced me to take this course. We have labs which help us learn how to prepare various organic compounds which are used in many day to day products . The course also has a 4th year research program. There should be more equipments in lab for the research. The frequency is good for exams being conducted and there level is also quite good

The students become eligible for the placements provided by the college in their 3rd year, while they can pursue internship offered by the college in previous years. Average sized companies visited the campus with lots of students being placed for jobs. The highest package I am not aware of but lowest was of around 300000 pa. I plan to pursue masters after my graduation degree.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. I don't know a lot about campus placements but I know that there is a training and placement cell in our college that provides good packages to many students. Some students got more than 7lpa last year. I will be doing my Post graduation after college and will make a career in academics.
