Remarks

The college is good for anyone who might not have cracked a good rank to get to NITs and top tier govt college, but still need a doable college. Fees are high, so thats a problem but other than than that, faculty are giod enough, Labs are well equipped and we get to have Special classes for increasing skill set. More of a complete job oriented one.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Being a private college, the college goes a step ahead from from just following WBUT syllabus and curriculum. Curriculum includes the core subjects along with physics, electronics and Humanities every semester (at most 2 non-core subjects a semester). Apart from it, FSP classes are conducted, for us it was web development in 2nd semester, python in 3rd semester, advanced python in 4th. Exam Structure: Theory and Practical Exams are marked seperately and have different credit points. For CSE, all subjects in computer science carry 3 credit points usually. Other subjects might carry 1-2 or 3 credit points, depends. For practical exams, they carry 2 credit points each. There are 2 intenal exams in a semester, 15 marks each. Along with it, 1 presentation, 1 term paper and 2 quizzes. These are all weighted down to 30 marks. Rest 70 marks are from the Main Theory Exams at the end of semester totalling 100. Practical exams are weighted in 50 marks, rest 50 from lab performance, viva, notebook etc. Also totalling 100 marks.

Placement Experience

3.5

In terms of placements, it is among top 3 of kolkata. TCS has been the main recruiter for years. 2018 was a good year for placements. Last year 6 were placed in Microsoft, 1 intern to intel with packaged above 12 lpa. Rest 50+ were in different companies, with TCS having the chunk. They averaged 7 lpa. So far highest package received was 15 lpa.

College Events

2

A few clubs are active in the main campus alone. For CSE, we have Geekonix (all CS aspirants), Robopalz Robotics Club, Samaritans (social work). Events: CSE UNITED: For CSE department only, encourages entrepreneurship and attracts aluminis. EDGE: Largest Techno Management fest in Kolkata, or 2nd largest to Kshitiz of IIT-K in Eastern India. Eclectica: For the one with love in literature and pen. Philanthropia (by Samaritans) : Social Work.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Its a private college and its moderately expensive compared to others. Requires 4.5 Lakhs+ in fees for a 4 year B.Tech Courses, paid semester wise. No other charges are incurred apart from that. Loans are availabke from adjoiming Punjab National Bank.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college does not provide its own scholarship. But it can be availed during councelling with the TFW(Tution Fee Waiver ) criteria. They have limited seats, just 4 in average per department. As the name suggest, tution fees are waived and hardly adds to 1 lac in the whole 4 year period. For the rest, the adjoining Punjab National Bank provides loan located within the campus. Loans can ve availed as per choice to any bank.

Campus Life

4.5

Extracurricual activites are next to none. For Sports, only 2 Cricket tournaments are organized in a year. Rest of them and other sports are within college departments. Labs have all the standard facilities and are well equipped. The electronics departments are not that equipped though and use older instruments but are gradually being renovated.

Alumni/Alumna

CSE UNITED is one of the main events for senior students and alumni to come together. Senior students associated with clubs like geekonix organize regular sessions (at least once a week) for the latest technologies out there. The RRC club is less organized and only take interested students. We learn more from seniors : P

Admission

1)The college accepts both WBJEE and JEE MAINS rankholders. In my case, it was WBJEE. First you need to fill up your choices according to priorities in the WBJEE Councelling form(Colleges and Streams). 2) During the councelling process, you would be given A documented proof of councelling to submit at your choice of college within a given time for admission, before the next councelling round begins. 3)At the College: 1st Semester fees are paid at the time of admission along with a small admission charge and the slot is booked. Within a month, you would need to provide all other requested documents and thats it.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty for the computer science departmemt is good enough. They usually have a phD and industry experience, yet not all. Many of the Faculty of Other departments are average. Most of them have job oriented teaching so mostly focus on competetive coding, DS, web dev etc. Subjects like Computer architecture are just taught for passing out.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
