Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum followed is based on the latest requirements of the industry which got me attracted to the college. The curriculum is mostly based on real world applications, we have lots of site visits. Guest lectures by industry people, which helps us prepare well for the real world. Teaching methods are good but the curriculum is a bit rigid and more options should be provided by the colle5in terms of electives and subjects. We have exams mostly every month. The difficulty level is not very high but moderate. As we are from the first batch of BTech, there is not much to prepare from like PYQs or proper notes generally developed with time, due to which the difficulty is a bit reduced.
Placement Experience
The students can apply for placements from the 6th semester, but they have to complete the whole 8 semester to start working. Companies like L&T, HCC, J Kumar, TATA Projects are our major recruiters, many MNCs and other top company like to hire from NICMAR. The college has genuine 100% placement, the students who generally do not get placed are ones who have family business or startups. After completing the degree and mostly interested in a job for the 1 to 2 years to gain some experience. Then I may consider options like higher studies or a business.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yearly I pay 1.5Lakh as tution fees and 1.2Lakhs as Hostel Fees. There was a 10000 Registration fee. The college has class toper scholarship which provides 40000Rs refund on fees. There is fee reservation for economically backward section students.
Campus Life
We have many annual and technical festivals like Spardha, which is a sports Event, TECHNIKALA which is out technical event. From a social aspect the college is not very good mostly because we have very less space for big events which sometimes make the call is boring and also there is no much participation from the students also. All the classrooms are active with smart board projectors, MIC and speakers system for the faculty. And a lot of high and computer labs are there to access many top of the line softwares like Bentley, BIM, AutoCAD, Revit etc. College has many sports teams like TT, cricket, football, basketball etc. But we only have a basketball court, badminton court and some TT tables. For rest of the sports students have to go out in sports complex at there own expenses. There are lot of clubs like startup club, sustainability club, business club, dance club, music club, drama club, fashion club and a photography club. They are the only social activities, but not very active.
Hostel Facilities
The campus hostel is a single occupancy room with a study table, bed(with mattress) and a wardrobe. There are 2 common washroom and bathing area on each floor. There are three boys hostel and girls hostel. The girl hostel have sharing rooms with two girls in one room. The meal quality of mess is pretty good we have breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, dinner. The menu is basic not the best. But the quality is very good. Hostel registration is very simple you just have to apply for the hostel during the admission. When compared to pg's outside the hostel is a bit expensive. To rent a room or PG there are a lot of options available near the college itself. There are flats available in 1 km radius and there are also a lot of PGs and private hostels.
Admission
I only applied for government colleges in Maharashtra ,Gujarat and Delhi. The main reason I choose this college specifically was it's industry connect and the image of college in the industry. Throughout the world in civil University is quite well known. I got rejection from NITs and it is due to my low score in the JEE mains exam. For admission NICMAR University Pune they have their own online exam and if you pass that there is a personal interview which you have to clear. They also consider JEE mains mhtcet exam also but the personal interview is compulsory. Admission experience was pretty smooth the whole process was online I only had to visit when my college started before that they was no requirement.
Faculty
Faculty are very much reachable, the relation is pretty good. Our dean Dr.Smita Patil is one of our faculty and very great at teaching. Even though she is a dean she is very much reachable. Our surveying faculty, Dr. Dinesh is not the best faculty, he has very good knowledge but not the best at conveying that. The course cariculam is very much relevant. We have 2 main exams every semester (Mid Term and End Term) and rest we have 3-4 Internal assessments at faculties discretion. The difficulty is from medium to high, again based on faculty.
Interview Experience
During the admission there was a personal interview which was mostly about why I want to join this college and why the I chose the specific course. The admission process starts with applying for the NICMAR admission exam the next step is the personal interview if you clear all the criterias you just have to fill the admission form and then you can directly join the college. The preparation is similar to 12th class syllabus and JEE mains preparation.
Night Life
The college have a gym in both girls and boys hostel. There is a cafeteria, library and public areas like open a theatre and study hall is there. That is no nightlife in the college you are not allowed to get out of the hostel after 11:00 p.m. till 5:30 a.m. in the morning except for emergencies. The only thing open in the college after 11:00 p.m. is the study hall. Near the college there is balewadi High Street a good place to hangout it is very same to roam around at night. Except for the balewadi High Street everything is quite far from the college.
