Course Curriculum Overview

2

The course rarely prepares you for any skill that is needed in the real world. They teach outdated computer programming languages like C and C++ and the actual language that is being used worldwide JavaScript is taught in the very last semester as a favour and very casually. This gives the wrong impression to the students about the industry demands and they're in for a shock when they get placed. Teaching is quite basic and it's only done through black boards. No real use of presentations even though there was a projector setup in every classroom. Teachers are passive when it comes to doubt clearing.

Internships Opportunities

2

I didn't join the intership from college even though I got an offer to. I got placed as a technical analyst in coforge private limited. They were offering me a trainee position first with a stipend of 10,000 per month during probation period, which was for 3 months. After 3 months my salary be increased to 4.2 lpa with full time employee benefits like medical allowances and cab facility. Also they were asking me to relocate to banglore and offering to help for the relocation by providing a place to stay.

Placement Experience

2

Students become eligible only in the 7th semester for placements. It is a strict policy on Manav Rachna. The companies which came were HCL, Capgemini, coforge, Amadeus solutions, Wipro etc. All companies come into the main auditorium and the HR's give a presentation about the company and also about their interview processes. Every company has a different selection process like some take 4 rounds and some are done in 2 rounds and 1 group discussion. Most of batch mates got rejected in the GD round only. I think around 3-4 students got selected for HCl who offered them package of around 10-12 lakh and that was the highest package offered in Btech. Mostly students were placed in average companies like justdial and RGF limited with package ranging from 4.5 lpa to 5 lpa. Also most of my batchmates didn't take up these offers from the college and went on to pursue companies on their own through LinkedIn and naukri.com Placement record for Manav Rachna is around 75% but the quality of companies is very mediocre and the salary offered is below par. So students prefer off campus placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

When I joined the college in 2014 the fees for one semester was 125000. The fee has been increasing at a rate of around 5% every year since then and now the semester fee would be around 210000. Also the scholarships they provide is very minimal and there is an assessment for it. The maximum scholarship I know a student in my batch got was covering 70% of tution fee, and not covering any hostel fee or other expenses.

Campus Life

4

This college is great for all extra curricular activities. They have e a huge cricket/football fied along with a Olympic level shooting range. They also have a indoor stadium with badminton courts and table tennis where every week there are competitions happening. Also as the campus is huge there is a lot of space for grass and gardens and leisure areas. Library as I mentioned already is world class. It has the best collection of fiction, none fiction, course material books along with a very friendly and helpful library staff. Also the sitting areas inside the library is very comfortable and they have proper bean bags, sofas and cushions. There is free wifi for all students as well. The classrooms are well equipped with monitors, projectors and blackboards but the teachers use only the black boards. Iny r years at the college I've not once seen the projector work. The size of the classrooms are quite big and can accomodate around 40-50 even though my class had 35 students.

Admission

I choose Sri Venkateswara college in DU before Manav Rachna. I also got admitted in the first cutoff list because I had scored 91 % in my 12th boards. The reason I didn't join that college is just because of the distance. I love in Faridabad with my family and the travelling to Satya niketan would be almost 1.5 hours one side each day. I didn't want to tire myself with that. Whereas manav Rachna is 10 mins away from my house walking distance. The addmission at manan rachna was quite easy and there was not even a entrance test for the simple entrance. There was a entrance test only for students who wanted to apply for scholarships. I applied through a referral and filled out the forms required by them with all my details and paid the fees and it was done. Private colleges in India I feel are more concerned about the money from students and not concerned about the quality of students they're admitting into their colleges. So they asked me for the fees for the 1st semester in advance, I paid it and it was done.

Faculty

2

Most faculty members are good but the issue is with the course material itself. It's very outdated and not at all as per the industry demands. Like when I joined Amazon after college, I realised that 90 percent of what I was taught and what I gave exams on is completely pointless and can't be used in my work. They're still teaching C and C++ for 3 semesters in btech, whereas no company is working on those languages at all. They're all working on javascript and python. Exams are quite easy to be honest and they happen once at the semester end. Also the marking system is quite generous and you can score good marks if you study even 2 days before the exams. One faculty member I didn't like particularly was meeta ma'am. She was a assistant professor in computer science department. She's the most biased person I've met and she only gave priority and cleared doubts of students whom she personally likes and who buttered her. I think that's not fair as a teacher and you should respect and treat everyone equally.

Interview Experience

5

A lot of companies took GD as the first round to filter out the right candidates. I gave 2 GD rounds and the topics were - do you think global warming is harming the environment? - what do you prefer, democracy or communism?

Night Life

4

There is huge canteen at the back of the college and there's a dhaba called shibiya in the front of the college. These are the favourite hangout spots for everyone. They have all kinds of cuisines from tandoori momos, chai, pizza and even cheesecake. Also there is a hunger cute opened recently in the college premises which provides food at a discounted rate. Timing of the college is 8am to 4pm and the hostel timing is 7am to 7pm. Nightlife is exciting in the hostel as there's a lot of activities to do in and around like the football field and the badminton courts.

I am in the computer science and engineering branch. I want to be a software developer and I am passionate about coding and I love to code that's why I am chosen this branch. The faculty members of my college are awesome and helpful. They are well qualified and knowledgeable. They cooperate with students in every situation . they focus much on the weak student so they can also pass the exam. they use the blackboard and smart classes both to teach the student effectively. we have industrial exposure also. the well built spacious will have no importance if not for the wonderful faculty the college has. All are faculty members are highly knowledgeable and done their post graduation from one of the top colleges like IITS. and most of the teachers are GATE qualified and even it is not once. they are writing the exam regularly. so, if you prepare for the GATE exam, then you can get great help from them. they used to prepare us for the GATE exam, along with academics

I am a Delhite and my college is on outskirts of Delhi and also i being residing near du north campus used to think i will enjoy the same college life. but being into a professional (b.tech) course gave me a different view of college and its life. i came to know how to lead a professional ethic life, learnt some good meaningful things.college management is getting strict day by day for laws against students but the other tasks like things that need to be get done from peon are not getting done. ac's dont work even after complaints. in total the college needs a great improvement else it will keep running the business with no fruits.
