Course Curriculum Overview

5

First of all the additional specialization of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science was enough for me toselect this course. The institute provides you with compulsory projects in each term which are evaluated by the faculties and improvised. We are also developing these projects for a commercial platformwith additional guidances from various faculties. These updations are not in the curriculum but the faculty is still guiding us through every step of the project. The teaching methods are well and good. The curriculum as I mentioned earlier should be revised atleast every 2 years so that students can learn what is relevant in terms of the current market requirements. The mid semester exams are conducted in oct/nov and march/april. The end semester exams are conducted in the months of December and May. The exams are easy to clear but are sometimes lenghty.

Internships Opportunities

5

MIT offers diverse internship opportunities for its dtudents, collaborating with leading companies accross various industries. These internships provide hands-on experience, competitive stipends, and projects designed to enhance practical learning and industry readiness . MIT partners with various companies like IBM, Infosys, Cognizant, TATA, Tech Mahindra, Google, Amazaon, Oracle, Deloitte, etc which offer roles in areas like: Software Development: Projects: Creating applications for enterprise level solutions, developing AI-based feature, and automating processes. Outcomes: Students gain expertise in programming languages like Pyhton and Java, along with project management skills. Data Analytics: Projects: Analyzing customer trends, optimizing data pipelines, and creating dashboards for insights. Outcomes: Proficiency in tools like Tableau and SQL, and advanced analytical reasoning. It also provides internships in designing, supply chain management, blockchain technology, and financial analytics. Most technical roles offer stipends ranging from 10,000-30,000 rupees per month depending ont he project and industry.

Placement Experience

4

Students are eligible for the campus placements from the 7th semester. Numerous companies like Google, IBM, Amazon, Oracle, Asian Paints, Cognizant, TATA, Tech Mahindra, Infosys and many more. The fighest package offered was of 44.14 LPA but the company name was not disclosed. There were 1600+ recruiters who visited MIT for Campus Palcements. Overall more than 80% of the students are placed each year through campus placements. After completing my degree, I will be working at a firm in an IT field for 1-2 years after which I plan to go abroad for my masters.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for each new batch increases by around 10% eah year which that batch will continue to pay for the rest of the course duation every year. This is the total fees which includes all registration and exam fees. Campus Life

3

MIT holds multiple tech and non-tech fests like Student Leadership Development Program(SLDP) in august or september, RIDE(Research Innovation Desing and Entrepreneurship) in september or august, Aarohan in january, Firodiya Karantak in March, Startup Expo with RIDE, etc. MIT has a library that consists of more than 50000 books. All the books are free to issue for a period of 15 days after which the book needs to be re-issued. There is no limit to the number of re-issues permitted. It also has a digital library where students can access and work on PCs in the campus itself. This is a provision made for students so that they can complete heir digital work without any dependence on their personal devices. The classrooms are well equipped with benches and lockers. Teachers are free to teach from their own PPTs via a digital screen or a TV like monitor. There are specified labs with a capacity of 35 students for each subject whether it be technical or non-technical. The PCs are equipped with the latest versions of all the required softwares and applications. MIT lacks an infrastructure for sports. It consists of only a basketball court, but now a new turf is under development for students to develop their extra-curricular activities. There are a number of Student lead clubs at MIT like GDSC(Google Developers student club), CSI(Computer Society of India), Cultural Club(2nd runner up in Firodia Karnatak 2024), etc. These clubs help student hone their technical, non-technical, communication and financil skiils. The only drawback is that students need to guve a lot of time to these clubs on a daily basis. Most of the students are required to stay till midnight on the campus even during exam periods.

Admission

I had applied at KJ Somaiya and Symbiosis Institute of Technology(SIT). I was also trying for the spot-rounds at Vishwakarma Institute of Technolgy(VIT). I got confirm seats in Computer Science branch from both KJ Somaiya and SIT.I chose MIT over KJ Somaiya as both the colleges had almost the the same placement and packages. But MIT had a higher NIRY ranking while on the other hand KJ Somaiya had an exceeding amount of fees(over 4 Lacs). SIT was out of the option after the acceptance letter from MIT as SIT did not stand against MIT in terms of rankings, placements, or packages. I did not get accepted in VIT as the spot round was a very close one. Also, the spot rounds went on even till 3-4 am in the morning where the spot rounds cutoff was decreased. If I had waited at that time, my seat at VIT would ahve been confirmed. At MIT, you need to fill out the admission form and enter the marks you recieved in your entrance exams. There is no separate entrance exam for getting an admission in engineering at MIT. MIT accepts the scores of JEE-Mains, MHT-CET and PERA-CET. You are given a seat after considering your marks, number of seats left in the course and your course preferences. The most preferable exam to get an admission at MIT-WPU is MHT-CET. The cutoff for Core CS was 92% at my time and it went on decreasing with respect to the course. But, every year the cutoff goes on increasing with this year going till 95.5%.

Faculty

5

The faculty to Student ratio is something around 1:20. But, the faculty is very well trained and well equiped for teaching students. One of my favourite faculties include Dr. Priyanka and Dr. Pranali Kosamkar. Dr. Priyanka tought us M1 and M2 and is still solving our doubts for M3 even though she is not the subject teacher. On the other hand, Dr. Pranali is currently teaching us Database Management System. The presentations and teaching skills with which ma'am has tought us is worth appreciating. There was one faculty named Dr. Yogesh Kulkarni whom I personally did not like. Sir was teaching us the concepts of OOPs. But, most of the lectures were cancelled and topics wee left for students to learn on their own. Sir used to just open the geeks for geekswebsite and read the page. We even gave our practical exam with 2 topics left to teach. Each year is divided into 2 semesters. Each semesters consist of End Term Examinations and Mid Terms Examinations (for theory subjects) and practical examinations(for practical subjects). The end term exam is of 40 marks, the mid term of 30 marks and rest of the internals are based on either practicals or Continuous Class Assesment tests. If the student scores 24 out of a total of 60 in Mid term and internals, only then is the student allowed to appear for the end term exam. The exams are easy but the theory papers are sometimes lengthy. Overall, around 80% of the class gets an all clear while rest are held back for 1 or 2 subjects. The course curriculum is revised after every 3-4 years, but I feel that the curriculum should be revised atleast every 2 years.

Night Life

5

There is no accessible gym in the campus. But it has numerous cafe spots at various locations in the campus and a canteen which provides with all types of foods. The library is accessible from 8am to 6pm even during weekdays. During exam periods, the library is accessible till 9pm. Although the uildings are closed after working hours, the outside campus is open for everyone to access at any time. There are multiple hostels and PGs near the campus. But the two official MIT hostels are in hadapsar and ambegaon. Students are provided ith bus facilties to travel between the histel and college. There is only one small girls hostel that is placed inside the campus. There are multiple hangout places near the campus like Cafe Durga, Metrocity, Lassi Wassi, etc. The campus is sorrounded with numerous eating places with good ambinace. There are multiple cafes and a canteen inside the campus which are accessible during work hours. The campus is very safe to roam at night due to 24/7 security.

Other Applied Colleges

KJ Somaiya Institute of Engineering and Information Technology - [KJSIEIT] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Engineering)

Total fees were higher than MIT and the rankings were still the same.

Symbiosis Institute of Technology - [SIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

MIT was also one of the options and MIT had better placements and overall rankings

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
