Course Curriculum Overview

4

My interest in the course was the reason I chose the course. Difficulty of the exam depends on the subject and the teacher. Sometimes it is tough and sometimes easy. Some subjects taught in the first year seem irrelevant, so they can be dropped from the curriculum of some departments.

Internships Opportunities

4

The internship opportunities in the college is nice. College provides internship opportunities in 3rd year, though we can find it ourselves eariler if needed. Companies like Samsung, Qualcomm, Reliance etc visit the campus for internships.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for in-campus placement in the last year, though they can sit for internships in the 3rd year. Top companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Accenture etc come for placements. 80-90% of the students get placed every year.

Fees and Financial Aid

One-Time Fee at time of admission is Rs 5700. Refundable Fees is Rs. 6000. For each semester, Tuition Fee is Rs. 100000, Fees for Hostel and Mess is Rs. 36600. Tuition Fee for SC/ST/PwD candidates and students with annual family income less than Rs 100000 is zero. There is concession for students with annual family income limit between Rs 100000 and Rs 500000. There are various kinds of scholarships available in the college. Also, we are regularly notified about scholarship opportunity from outside.

Campus Life

5

Spring Fest is the annual cultural fest, held in the month of January. Kshitij is the Tech Fest, which is also held in the month of January. I love the culture of clubs and societies in our college as it helps us develop our skills and build very good connections with everyone and also giving us exposure. The library is very nice and almost all types of books are available there. Classrooms are equiped with ACs, projectors. Sport facilities at IITKGP is excellent. There is a large variety of sports which can be played in the campus.

Hostel Facilities

3

The rooms of the hostels are nice. We are provided with a bed, table, chair and cupboard. The food in the mess is decent, though on some days, it is not good. A variety of foods is available in the menu. Every student has to live in hostels in the campus itself. The hostel life is full of fun.

Admission

Admission to IITs happens on the basis of the ranking in the JEE(Advanced) examination. I chose this college as it is one of the top IITs and a reputed institute in India. Also, the opportunities and exposure here are quite good.

Faculty

4

The faculty is very approachable. We can mail them and can also visit them in their office. There are Mid-Semester, End-Semester, Class Tests, Lab Tests every semester. Mid-Semester holds 30% weightage, End-Semster 50% and class tests and teacher's assesment hold 20% of the weightage. Difficulty of the exams depend solely on the subject and teahcer. Sometimes, it is tough and sometimes easy but the overall pass percentage is high.

Night Life

5

The campus remanins cheerful the whole night and it doesn't feel like night there. You can find a number of students on the streets, in cafes etc in the night as well. The library closes at midnight and opens at 8 in the morning, but there is a room where students study if they want to study late night. There is no restriction in hostel timings and we can step out of the hostel anytime. Overall, the college campus is full of life.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
