I took Chemical because of the College first, it was reputed and one of the best for this course. Chemical is a course which is in good demand, though it has not vey good demand in India but abroad it has high pay and demand. Curriculum has been updated and is very relevant to Industry standards. Areas of improvement I see , in my opinion is that courses should be made more updated with modern tech, like they should have use of more software and Ai part, which makes process more accurate and smart. Exams are taken at 1-2 month of interval, difficulty is moderate to difficult. But if you attend classes and follow the course instructor regularly , you will score good.

For four year course, placement start after 3rd year completion. In the 7th semester companies start taking online or offline assessment tests. In the month of December, interviews are arranged and offers are given. For five year course, same things happen after 4th year completion. Placement starts with Day-0, Day-1, etc. High paying companies are scheduled on day zero and day one and so on. Most of the batch is placed in first round of placement. Remaining are required to apply in second round which is in January February of next semester. Generally most of the batch is placed , and rest opt for other higher studies or off campus placement through alumni network or referal mostly.

There are mostly 3 main fest of IIT Kharagpur Shaurya - sports fest Kshitij - Techno management fest Spring fest - social and cultural fest These are generally held between January and February. Library has every kind of books and journals, it's one of the best libraries in Asia, so no need to explain more. Classroom are equipped with world class facilities like dual projector screen, microphone and speakers of high quality, noise and echo cancellation setup, centrally air conditioned rooms. Sports and extracurricular activities are one of the best in India. There are 3 major playground (Jnan Ghosh, Tata Steel complex, MG ground -hockey ground)and several small tennis and badminton court. There is also one olympics size swiming pool. There are n-number of social and cultural groups and society and increasing year by year. From robotics club to chess club , From Dance club to Cooking club, everything is there. College is best for overall development of personality.

I appeared for JEE MAIN and JEE advanced and comedk in my preparation time. Goal was clear in my mind to get an IIT only so I left comedk councelling process. I have applied for IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT kanpur circuital branches in Jossa councelling. But my rank was not that high so I ended up with IIT Kharagpur chemical engineering department. I got rejection from IIT Bombay and Delhi good branches because of the JEE Rank. Admission process for btech and dual degree programs in IIT is through joint entrance examination (JEE). After securing top 1-2 % rank in this examination you will get this college. Overall admission process is very smooth, after getting a good rank , you will be asked to reach Jossa councelling website and fill the details. After several rounds, you will get the college as per your choices filled and rank match.

Faculty to student ratio is nearly 1:10 Faculty are very approachable, you can mail them for any query or contact there teaching assistants. In my department at IIT Kharagpur, almost every faculty is very kind and generous. Professor R.Mujherjee is one of the most famous and liked faculty. There are 100 marks for each subject in a semester, 50 for end semester exam 30 for mid semester exam 20 for tests, attendance,etc. Major there are 2 exams in a semester which is taken in common time table , and tests are taken by respective professors. Exams are not easy if you are not prepared well. It's difficult to score high because all the students are of good quality and IQ. All are IITians. In most of the subject, students get P(pass) as lowest grade but there are few courses where students fail. Most of the courses are relevant but few are outdated.

Nightlife at IIT Kharagpur is awesome. If you are a night owl, this place is best for you. There are several canteen which are open for whole night. Campus has no curfew timings for boys and girls. You can roam in the campus at any time with friends. Most of the facilities are available inside the campus so people generally don't go outside. After 11 pm at night , leaving the campus without proper permission is not allowed. Library if functional 24 hours during exam time, otherwise it functions between 8am to 12 am. It's not advisable to roam outside the campus at night. Inside the campus people hangout at 2.2 , Adda , Gymkhana and other places.
