Remarks
In my opinion, the college is pretty good for students. The faculties are excellent, overall fees structure is low and the college has a really good environment for studying. I shall give this college 8 out of 10.
Course Curriculum Overview
During my time, the course was for 3 years and the examination was taken as yearly basis. But in present day, the course duration is three years and the examination is taken as semester basis. The syllabuses are structured with Choice Base Credit System (CBCS) as per the guidelines of UGC.
Placement Experience
As a general degree college, the college does not offer any placement. But sometimes the college organizes campussing in association with TCS. The students can get a job according to their skills in this direct placement program.
College Events
The annual function organized in winter and Freshers' Welcome organized by the Students' Union is the main festivals of this college. Also each department individually organizes Freshers' Welcome, Farewell Ceremony and Teachers' Day.
Fee Structure And Facilities
As this is a government college, the fees-structure is very low compared to other colleges. According to the subjects taken, the fees-structure may vary between 1000 to 1500 Rupees per semester. (The main expense is for tuition fees which is Rs. 110 per month. The other expenses are literally negligible.)
Fees and Financial Aid
The college provides full-free and half-free of fees for the needy students. Besides this, the students can also apply for scholarships funded by West Bengal Government. There is 'Kanyashree Project' initiated by West Bengal Government for all female students.
Campus Life
The college authority always motivates the students for extracurricular activities. There is a football ground in front of the hostel. There are facilities for indoor games in the common room. The Students' Union also organizes cultural competitions like debate, recitation, quizzes etc. The lab-based departments like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Geography and Anthropology have well-furnished laboratories.
Alumni/Alumna
The senior students are always working together to help the current students. Some senior students of Statistics department often organize seminars. All the alumnis are really glad to be connected with the college personally.
Admission
The admission is totally based on merit list. The merit point is calculated by adding the 10% of total marks obtained in 12th class with the marks obtained in your desired subject (The subject that you want to take as Honors subject).
Faculty
All the faculties are really good. They are highly qualified and strong-determined to teach the students. The student-teacher ratio is quite good. The students can contact the faculties any time and can clear their doubts.
