Course Curriculum Overview

The couse curriculum was very student friendly and provided very useful and detailed knowledge on all relevant aspects . The BA in Ancient Indian and World History course curriculum includes: - First year: Introduction to History, Ancient Indian History, World History, and Historiography - Second year: Ancient Indian Political and Social History, World History (3000 BCE - 500 CE), and Historical Methodology - Third year: Medieval Indian History, World History (500 - 1500 CE), and Archaeology and Numismatics - Electives: Ancient Indian Economic History, World History (1500 - 2000 CE), and Historical Tourism - Dissertation/Research Project: Students conduct in-depth research on a chosen topic under faculty guidance. The curriculum provides a comprehensive understanding of ancient Indian and world history.

Fees and Financial Aid

Being a state government college thefees was quite affordable. It amounted to 1100 rupees for each semester with additional exam fees of 300 rupees. The total admission cost would sum up to 6000 to 7000 . Scholarship was provided on the basis of reserved categories sc st obc .

Campus Life

4

The campus life can be summarized as a lovely adventure. The college held extra curricular activities which was refreshing in midst of all the academic pressure . The social life can be described as a cheerful one with students being friendly respectful and engaging .

Admission

In whole of west bengal the couse for BA in Ancient indian and world history honours is only available in two college both affiliated by westbengal state university. I took admission in Sanskrit college and university kolkata which was much better in terms of faculties facilities and environment. Admission in this college is based upon your score in class 12th with a cutoff of 65% .

Faculty

4

There were sufficient number of faculties for each subjects. The faculty to student ratio was be stated as 1:15 . The teachers were really outgoing and helpful in all aspects whether academics or extra curriculars . Exams were semester wise and includes 1 internal and 1 external at the end of each semester .

Night Life

2

There was no night life as the college building was not in the affiliated university campus . The building whatsoever comes under national heritage of west bengal . The surrounding area can be considered safe especially for girls and best place to hang out for students after class.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
