Course Curriculum Overview

4

I liked some aspects of the curriculum as my college is affiliated with the Savitribai Phule Pune University. Subjects like Fundamentals of Programming languages and Problem solving and practical skills made me select this course in the first place. This influenced me to choose this course of Computer Engineering in my college. The college curriculum is extremely well structured and the syllabus is good along with paper pattern for these two subjects. The following curriculum prepares students for real life applications. The curriculum is vast and offers ample expose to programming concepts to tackle company coding rounds. The teachers teaching Fundamentels of Programming languages and Problem solving skills are extremely experienced and teach students in a very easy to understand manner. The curriculum is ample for providing us with future academic pursuits and preparing us for the future. I would also like to suggest some improvements in the Course Curriculum for Savitribai Phule Pune University. The syllabus is somewhat outdated for most of the subjects other than the subjects I mentioned above. Subjects like Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry and Engineering Graphics are completely useless in Computer department. The teaching methods of the staff for these subjects is also very poor as they have to cover most of the syllabus in limited amount of lectures. Hence I wish there would be a way to replace these subjects with branch specific subjects helping students to gather knowledge and learn something which will help them in their upcoming future. The teachers can also try to teach the subject better in order to make the subject more easier to understand but due to less lectures allotted to them, I cannot really comment anything much here. The frequency and timing of exams in our college is pretty decent. There is 2 months before the Unit test which gives students enough time to prepare for Unit test. We are able to score pretty well in the unit tests.

Placement Experience

5

In our college, students become eligible for campus placements since the 6h semester of their Engineering course. We can sit for placements if we have more than 8 CGPA during previous semesters and provided that we have a good record of courses and attendance in the college. We have various companies visiting our college to offer placements to students in our college. Some of them are Zscaler, Infosys, VERITAS, BARCLAYS, Accenture, Kpit, Google, Microsoft etc. All these companies have already made over 2500 offers to our college students. All these placement offers are brought by our college's honourable training and placement cell. Most offers are being made by companies like Accenture and Barclays in our college. In our college the highest package was offered to our senior by Microsoft which was about 1.25Cr per annum. Profile offered was Azure cloud delivery manager. There are more than 15 students in our college who have bagged mind blowing offers from top companies like Google and Microsoft which are offering packages over 50L per annum. All thanks to our respected training and placement cell of Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering and Research. Average package in our college is around 5-7L per annum. Our college ensures that every student of the college gets a job before or after completing their Engineering course without fail. Our college supports us with various placement drives throughout the year offering endless opportunities to get a job. In our college 95% of the students are getting placements in top companies due to the extremely good academic and career oriented environment and hardworking T&P cell of our college. The remaining 5% pursue Master Degrees and further opportunites in the future. My plan after getting the degree would be to work in top companies with decent package per annum. I will also try to pursue my masters while working to generate a creative experience for me. I would explore my career and will be ready to face challenges.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees I paid for my college is 1,34,366INR. Tution fees for my college is 1,13,044INR. Development fees for my college is. 16,956INR. Admission fees for my college is 100INR for all categories. Exam fees for my college is 1650INR for all categories. My batchmates from other categories pay the following amounts respectively. OBC - 77,844INR SC/ST - 4,366INR NT/TFWS- 21,322INR J&K - 28,866INR We have scholarships for students scoring more than 60% in the Semester exams. Girl students will get 60% of their fees back. Boy students will get 40% of their fees back.

Campus Life

4

We have many annual and technical festivals in our college. Some of them are Expression and Navdhara festivals, which are held in our college every year. Expression festival takes place around January and the Navdhara festival takes place in September. Expression festival contains dance, singing, narrating and various other activities for the students who are interesting in showing off their cultural abilities. Meanwhile, the Navdhara event is a technical event which fosters new technology among college students where we compete with other college students to win exiciting prizes. The library in our college is filled with books. We have wide variety of books in our library, from study to leisure books for reading. We have all reference books, subject textbooks and programming manuals in our library for our reference, so that we can enhance our knowledge to its fullest. We have various projects and smartboards in our classrooms for interactive learning. This helps students to understand the subject better with good conceptual clarity required for the Engineering Course. The benches in our college are also new and big offering comfortable experience. We have a sports ground in our college, where we play sports like cricket and volleyball. We have various Indoor games like Carrom and Table tennis to release students stress during the Co Curricular period. The facilities are ample and decent for our college. We have student run clubs which offer great opportunities to maximise our potential and learn more knowledge for our future career and ambitions. These groups help us to stay in tune with seniors and get help related to college life and examinations with proper strategy. We also get enough guidance for our career in the upcoming future. This has a very positive impact on student life as we get to interact with various students studying in our college. We have racing clubs, coding clubs and various other clubs for relaxation.

Admission

I applied to maany colleges before finally taking admission at Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering & Research. I will list some of them below. 1) DY Patil COE Pune: I applied to this college but I heard that the staff teaching subjects at this college are not at all good and academically oriented. One of my seniors also told me that this college has very bad crowd which is not interested in academics/career. 2) PCCOE Pune: This is the main branch of Pimri Chinchwad College of Engineering. This college is very good but it has higher merit.Hence I did not have enough marks to get admission in Computer Department of this college. 3) JSPM Pune;: This college is situated in a very town like locality and the college crowd is known to be very unserious about academics and future career. This college is very poor academically which led me to neglect this college during the admission process. 4) VIT Pune: This college is very good in terms of career but their teachers and academics is not at all strict. I have heard they distribute free marks to students and often make students compete heavily during placement rounds. The college is very far from my house and the college fees are very high and does not make any sense for Btech degree. I got rejection from top colleges for Engineering like COEP, VJTI, Walchand college due to my low merit. Since I am from the General category, I cannot take any reservation benefits in order to obtain admission in these top colleges without scoring high marks. The admission process of my college is pretty simple and straighforward. You can take admission in my college through various entrance examinations like JEE and MHTCET. The most preferred exam by students to take admission in my college is MHTCET because it offers students scholarships on basis of their category. MHTCET is also comparatively easier than JEE. The admission process in my college is very simple, just fill details on form, pay fees, collect receipt and submit documents.

Faculty

5

Faculty to student ratio in our college is decent. We have around 2 faculty responsible for handling 120 students in our classrooms. Faculty to student relationshit completely depends upon the student's academic performance in our college and their behaviour with the faculty member respectively. Faculty members are very approachable and available even after college hours to solve student's queries and doubts.Overall I would say the staff is pretty responsive and approachable to the students. I liked faculties Preeti mam, Gaikwad sir and Mhahasaheb sir in our college. They are best faculties in our college from 10+ years with more than 20 years of teaching experience. We students are very thankful to them for teaching us with their upmost spirit and dedication. They are always approachable and help the students in every possible manner. Hence they are the best faculties in our college. Some facuilties I disliked in the college are Rupti mam and Pradeep sir. They are quite strict and don't give proper marks even if the work done is perfect without issues. Both of them are very strict and are often not approachable to students and don't resolve our doubts on time. Most students don't understand what they are teaching during the lectures as well. We have Unit tests and End Semester exams in our college. Since our college is affiliated with SPPU, it has to follow University calendar for exams. Unit tests are very easy and many students are able to clear them without efforts. However for the Semester exams, the pattern is very vast and difficult. Time provided for paper is also less due to which it makes it harder for students to clear these exams. Many students get backlogs and KTs which makes it difficult to clear in the next semester due to higher academic pressure and more subjects. The Course curriculum is mostly outdated and not relevant in real life scenarios.

Night Life

3

The night life in our college is limited to the college campus. Since out college is situated in a silent area, nights are often quiet and there are no shops for street food near our college. All students are in their respective hostel rooms doing their work as there is no one on the road except for stray dogs. Students unwind after a day of classes by eating food in the college canteen and visiting nearly cafeterias during the night to eat food like Pizza and Burgers. We have sports ground in our college for relieving stress and getting ample exercise. We have Gym nearby our college, many students visit the GYM for exercising and maintaining their physical and mental wellbeing. There are ample number of cafeterias around the college so that students won't feel lonely after the college during night. Many students hang around in cafeterias for their Dinner. Public area closes at 10PM at night, so there is no night life after 10PM in our college and surroundings.

Other Applied Colleges

DY Patil International University - [DYPIU] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

I did not opt for this college because the college crowd is usually filled with management seats and the students are not academically/career oriented.

Vishwakarma Institute of Technology | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Engineering)

The college is great, but it was far away from my house and had higher fees. Considering above factors I did not take admission in this college.

In Kit college their are some rules for placement drive. In 7th sem companies started to visit our college. During my placement my engineering percentage is around 70 and I am able to attend every drive. Once student get placement offer from one company that student is not allowed to apply next company which package is near to previous company. Placement in Kit college in my year is 70 to 75%. The unplaced students have decided to go for MS.
