Remarks
Well, I have been through great time of college when HIT was under WBut but then the name got changed to MAKAUT which now the college has been affiliated to. I've gained a lot of good an bad experiences but mostly I have learnt a lot. Grown patience and learned how to deal with different kinds of people. This college is the best college in the outskirt of Kolkata, with all facilities like great food restaurants, malls, and bars.
Course Curriculum Overview
It is good with several different streams of subjects provided by HIT. Out of numerous options of streams I chose to pursue biotechnology for my 4years of engineering. On our first year, everyone (all departments) has to study the same subjects and after completion of 1dt year, if the CGPA is more than 8point, you're offered to change your stream in the 2nd year. So, you still have the chance to change your mind regarding your course.
Internships Opportunities
No, HIT doesn't provide internship or stipend. But do provide privileges to the students who are under BPL community. So, to prove so, students will be asked to show their parents annual income, if that comes under BPL, one's tuition fee will be taken half of the original.
Placement Experience
Student in campus placements are 95% and they get good multinational companies including all the renowned IT, event management and also food &beverages company. I was placed in an event management company and had worked their for 2years and I'm quite happy.
College Events
The best part of the extra curriculum are the annual winter fest called 'Riviera' for fun and frolic, Technology fest for the geeky minds will have their own fest named 'Prayukti' other than that students will get competitions on singing, dacing, debating, and even painting.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It's completely feasible and worth all the money spent and experience an engineer is going to get. I appreciate each and every aspect of this college of no complaints except of the administration department. They need to work hard for students.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am not really sure of this part but they do offer education loan to students in need. I myself didn't require but I've seen my friends taking help of loan, and it's quite feasible. They do not offer scholarship though.
Campus Life
Extracurricular activities includes annual sports in January, Cricket, Football and basketball tournaments every year. Indoor tournaments like badminton, Table tennis and carrom also takes place. Singing competition after the Durga puja is really interesting where talents are hunt.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel are comforting with front lawns and place to play for badminton. They have 7-8buildings for boys (in an outside campus), and 3for girls (inside campus). The food is sober and never have they received any complaints regarding food quality.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are the only ones who can guide the new faces and not aware of the engineering world. It is well adviced for the freshers to welcome and respect the seniors so that they can get any kind of help from their seniors, be it in academics or hostel facilities or anything else.
Exam Structure
4years of this graduation will include 8semesters where 2semesters in each year. 70% will be of theory conducted M.K.A.U.T whereas 30% will be on internal exams conducted by the college. Another 100marks will be given on Labratory/ practical exams with Viva.
Admission
I had to given the entrance exam of Joint after my 12th boards, and was asked to choose 3colleges of my preference with preferred Stream in engineering. And Haldia institute of technology (HIT) was my first preferencev with the stream of biotechnology, and fortunately enough I got through my first session of E-counceling. And henceforth without any further delay I was admitted to HIT.
Faculty
They're quite helpful. Not all will be as helpful as you feel, but if one is good in academics, you'll be appreciated. Few of the other faculties do support your extra curriculum too ad not only academics, I would suggest you to seek for them. They're really helpful.
