Life of a student at NIT Srinagar

The professors are very serious on the projects of students which they are going to make in the final semester of Engineering and sometime professors help them a personal level since the curriculum is helpful for our all development of a graduate For further studies , if we have 8.5 or above cgpa the students here have a option to pursue direct PhD feom IIT Delhi which further proceeds via interview

Yes I am the student who is currently studying in the second semester of chemical engineering so I would give detail about this based on my senior's experience In the fifth semester of BTech program students have to do internship and industries research to get a knowledge about them and internship has a contribution in CGPA also internship is considered for 3 credits almost 94% of the students are able to Grab in turned ship whether it is in IIT is for research industries for training and knowledge about the industry and some do internship with start up also fee of the students get a good opportunity to do internship in the public sector undertakings asSAIL, BHEL, ONGC ,Jaipir Metro,etc.

From the 7th semester of the BTech program students are able to apply for the on campus placements, Many companies visited for the placements of 25 batch this year Companies as Vedanta ,TCS, Infosys , shell , Ashok leyland , Aditya birla group , Shree chaitanya , Aakash ,byju's , PW , etc. around 170+ companies visited the campus last year and same for this year as well Profiles as Sales executive, Assistant management, Assistant engineer , Educators , lWeb developers ,etc were offered Highest package offered was 39 lpa last year, lowest package was around 6 loa whereas average package offered is around 8.75 lpa in my institute

The tuition fees is around 62000 per semester where is hostel fees is 8000 per semester mess fees is 20000 per semester lab and developmemt fee is around 1500 both per semester additionally 10,000 for institute fee Caution money is 12000 is one time payment ,which we will get after completing our course And no tution fee for SC, ST and students from weak financial background.

Techvaganza is the technical fest which held usually in the second week of october And cultural fest Rang-e-Chinar which is being organized since last two years We have 1.5 months of access to a book for free after it there is a penalty of around 1 rupee per day The classroom consists of projectors and smart boards which are helpful for professors in their lectures , and also the lab has mordern equipments Sport facilities has developed a lot in the past 4 years , There are sepearte courts for basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Tennis and a cricket pitch There are seperate whatsapp groups , which are student run groups and some of them are on Instagram too The clubs in the college are drama ,dance ,singing ,debate which are under they should supervision of a professor from the mechanical engineering department

Hostel has 5 seater occupancy one fan foir tubelights and four study tables for the students And toilet bathrooms also The mess food is horrible Non-veg food is available 4 times a week in dinner only No seperate mess for veg and non-veg , there us same mess but different timings When non-veg and paneer are made on same day in dineer, ao that all have an edge At the time of registration the administration ask the students if he wants to live in hostels or not student whose home is in the 25 km of radius is not allowed to live in hostels he is considered as day Scholars and same for mess as well we have to submit Rs 1000 for registering in mess and hot hostels at the time of admission then we have to enroll our names in mess and hostel list as well as well for the students who rent PG the PG rooms are available near the college within the 3 kms, down the hazratbal dargah side

HoI have got this college through CSAB counselling, I have also prioritised NIT Agartala Mechanical Engineering over it, but I didn't join it as it is very far from my hometown and the college itself is very new so not a good alumni network for further connection in the industry The admission process for it is through JEE Mains, getting a decent percentile in it and further applying in JOSAA and CSAB counsellings After receiving seats in it, we need to keep documents ready and report on the mentioned reporting date Along with the submission of fees Overall admission process at institute is not much hectic, there are person helping the students in it.

The student to Faculty ratio in the sensitive tales below average as per my department is over concern the student to Faculty ratio is very poor there are only 15 professors for chemical engineering department the professor's are highly qualified In a semester there are midterm and and term examination and level of semester exams is moderate. Through labs we can get the good knowledge of our course and leaves are well maintenance and highly equipped with good equipment available

Gym is available in two shifts morning and evening morning shift is from 7 to 9 a.m. where as evening slots are from 7 to 9 p.m. library opens from 9 am to12 am Where as canteen and cafeteria timings are from 8 am to 10 am Hostel timings for girls is around 9 p.m. and it is 10 p.m. for boys as well As the nightlife in Srinagar is not so good almost all shops closes before 9:00 p.m. in night because of the security reasons places to hang around colleges the Gumbad Cafe where most of the students prefer to go on birthdays party's etc And the famous Dal lake also on whose banks the institute itself is situated
