Internships Opportunities

5

Internships play a crucial role in bridging the gap between academics and industry experience. CoE Thalassery encourages students to take up internships, workshops, and industrial training to enhance their practical knowledge, though on-campus internship opportunities are somewhat limited.Government & PSU InternshipsStudents can apply for internships in KSEB (Kerala State Electricity Board), PWD, BSNL, ISRO, BHEL, and Railways. Most of these require students to apply independently, with faculty recommendations helping in some cases. The college has tie-ups with local industries and startups, mainly in electrical, automation, and IT sectors. Some students get opportunities in companies like Tata Power, V-Guard, L&T, and ABB, but most placements happen through off-campus efforts.Internships via IEEE & Technical Clubs The IEEE student branch and Robotics Club provide internship-like experiences through technical projects, hackathons, and workshops.

The placement scenArio at college of engineering Thalassery is moderate with limited core eee job opportunities while some it and software companies visit the campus core electrical placement are relatively low many students optfor higher studies government examor off campus job search to secure better opportunities It and software companies:some Student get placed in tcs, infosys, wipro, etc.core* eee job:limited, mostly in power and automation sector throught off campus hiring ?gov exam aspiration:many student prepare for gate, lseb, pgcol, railway, and psu ?since on campus placement in core electrical field are limited student need to focus on: internship and certification.gate preperation for pau jobs or mechanical iniits and nits.off campus oppyincore campaniesand startup.enterprenuership and freelancing in electrical services, renewable energy or automation.if you are self driven and willing to upskill,coE Thalassery provides a good academic based.however placement in core eee are not strong so higher studies govexamor off campus job hunting are essential for career success

Fees and Financial Aid

College of engineering thalshery is a well known institution in Kerala offering various btech and mba programs it is affiliated by apj abdul kalam technological University and follows a structured fee system with multiple scholarship options for btech students the total first year fee is around ?59,970 including a one time refundable caution deposit of ?5000 from the second year onwards the fee drop slightly as the one time charge are removed the breakdown include tution fee-?40,000per year ,lab& libraryfee-?2000;pta fund-?6000(?3000 for sc/st/oec students);student activity &career guidance fees-?1500.one major concernfor students is wether the fees increase yearly.as of now,no major hikes have been reported, but it's always the best to check with the collage before admission.thw collage provides few scholarship opportunities mainly for financially weaker and minority students 1.E-grantz scholarship: eligibility -primarly for students from sc/st/oec community;sebc and general category students may also be eligible based on income criteria; financial assistance:student receive an annual amount ranging from ?14,000-?20,000 depending on the course and other factors 2.meriy-cum means(MCM) SCHOLARSHIP: eligibility:offered by the ministry of minority welfare of students from minority communities witha family income not exceeding ?2.5lalhs per annum.financial assistance: eligible students receive up to ?25,000 annually to support their education 3.ek nayanar co-operative professional education scholarship: eligibility: students who have accured 85% or above in their 10,+2 examination.financial assistance:provides ?15,000 per year to eligible students. While this scholarship helps a wider range of merit -based financial aid would make the institution more accessible to students from different backgrounds Pos: affordable fees compared to private engineering college .Government recognised scholarship reduce the financial burden No major fee hikes reported in recent years

Campus Life

5

CoE Thalassery offers a structured academic focused campus experience with enough opportunities for students to engage in technical, cultural and sport activities the student community is supportive and various clubs and organization help students explore their intrest beyond studies .however the campus could improve in terms of industry exposure, core EEE placement, and recreation infrastructure, for students who prefer a balanced mixof academic and extracurricular in a disciplined environment CoE Thalassery is a good choice

Admission

I choose a college of engineering, Thalshery, mainly for its government affiliation, affordable fees, and structured academic environment compared to private colleges. It offered a cost-effective education with a recognized curriculum under APJ Abdul Kalam University compared to other colleges applied to while I had applied to a few other government and private engineering colleges. coE Thalassery stood out for its low tuition fee compared to private institutions. disciplines academic structure under KTU. decent infrastructure with well-equipped labs. However, some private colleges had better placement and industry collaboration, which is a drawback here. The thing that went wrong while getting into other colleges is. I missed out on higher-ranked HOV colleges due to the KEAM rank cutoff and competition. While some private colleges were an option, higher fees and inconsistent academic discipline made me choose CoE Thalassery instead, but I have no regrets about that. Admission process: Admission was through KEAM via the CEE Kerala centralized allotment. The process was straightforward with reservation and scholarship available for eligible candidates. Final thought: CoE Thalassery is a good choice for students looking for an affordable, academically strong institution; however, placement and industry exposure could be improved, so students need to take extra initiatives like internships and certifications for better career prospects.

Night Life

5

Since CoE Thalassery is gov college in semi urban area the night life is quite limited compared to metropolitan cities the campus itself follows a strict policy so late night activities within the collage are minimal.hostel life :students staying in hostel often engage in group study session, casuL discussions or indoor games.hostel timing are strict and late night outings are generally not allowed collage venta occasionally fest and cultural events extends into the evening but regular nightlife activities are rare.Restaurants & Cafés: A few eateries around Thalassery remain open till late evening, but there are no major late-night cafés or clubs nearby. Beach & Chill Spots: Muzhappilangad Drive-in Beach and Thalassery Pier are some peaceful late-evening hangout spots, but transportation at night can be a challenge.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance. The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies. The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.
