- Environment: The campus is clean and well maintained .
- Free Bus is available for students of college .
- The Auditorium is large and spacious . It can be used for various events very easily.
Dislikes
- Floods: During floods , the college is filled with flood water and very inconvenient for students to travel to and fro.
- Lifts / elevators are not allowed to be used for students , making them climb the stairs upto many floors .
- Teacher -student interaction can be improved for better understanding of the subject.
Course Curriculum Overview
Gu is very well known in Guwahati for engineering and IT departments. Hence my decision for choosing this course and college. This college helped me in gaining real time knowledge for corporate sector and introduced me to the job sector. Teaching methods can be improved for better understanding of the course . Exams are sometimes average and sometimes difficult. Exams are held 5-6 times each semester.
Placement Experience
From 5th -6th semester, students become eligible for campus placements and relevant exams are conducted for such matters. A no. Of offers are made from companies such as Capgemini, TCS , Wipro , etc. The highest package is 4 Lpa and the average package is 2-3 Lpa. Out of 50-60 students , around 5-10 students get placements or get selected for job positions . After getting the degree , I opted for corporate jobs.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees was divided into 2 semesters. One odd semester and one even. In the odd semesters, the fees would be around 23000-28000. And for the even semesters, the fees would be around 17000-20000. In addition to this, there were registration fees and miscellaneous expenses around 2000-3000. There are quite many scolarships available based on merit and some for minorities as well.
Campus Life
A wide variety of extra curricular activities are conducted in the college. It includes Varsity week and different competitions like sports, debate, quiz, singing,etc. Festivals such as Saraswati Puja, Independence Day, etc are also celebrated.
Admission
I only applied to this college and was accepted at the third list . Students are selected on merit basis. The admission process is easy but may be a little time consuming and the authorities provide full support for such processes.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 1:15 approx. The faculty is approachable and supportive. I liked the IT department the best which maybe due to my personal interest in that subject matter . No such dislike towards any particular department. Around 5-6 exams are held each semester including class tests , midterms and end sem exams.
Night Life
Gyms , Cafeteria and library facilities are available for students to time pass and chill. Roaming area for time pass is also available for students during their off time . Hostel facilities are provided for interested students with relevant timings . The locality might be less safe for women at night as it is located in the outskirts of the town.
