Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum is the best in the country. The courses are designed with lab segments. So the students have the access to build their own things with the concepts learnt in the class. The lab equipment is also updated every year along with the systems so the students have a real-world understanding of the concepts and practical knowledge. The exams are conducted in the mid-semester and end-semester. The exams are well conducted according to time table but depending on the courses the student chooses it may happen that there may be 2 exams on the same day. It may be hectic for that one time. other than that every examination is conducted smooth as ice.

Internships Opportunities

4

Being in one of the prestigious colleges, one can get many internship opportunities in the college. Most of the top companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Nvidia come for hiring in the college. These companies offer fund during the internship period.

Placement Experience

5

The internship season starts in August and will begin in the 3rd year of the students college life. If we did not get the opportunity we can sit for placement which will be scheduled in December and all the final year student can avail the opportunity. The highest package can go up to 1.3 crores, and the lowest will be 5 lakh. The median and average salaries lie in the range of 12LPA to 13LPA mostly.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees must be paid semester-wise, and there are two semesters each year. The standard tuition fee is fixed from the 1st year till 4th year, i.e., 1,00,000 per semester and 2,00,000 per year. In the final year (5th year), as I got a post-graduate degree, I paid only 5000 a semester and 10,000 a year. There is merit cum need scholarships aid available in the institute, which can be availed if the necessary criterion is met. There is one MCM scholarship, INSPIRE, and one KVPY scholarship. The details are available on the institute's website

Campus Life

5

There are many fests held in IIT Kharagpur. There are two major fests that occur in IIT Kharagpur. One is Kshitij, the techno-management fest, which involves competitions and talks from famous personalities in corporate and governance. Kshtij is scheduled in the month of January every year, and it lasts for 3 days. There is another fest, Spring Fest, which is a cultural fest. This fest involves many cultural programs such as Dance shows, comedy and there is a pronight where a singer,or rapper performs a show for 2-3 hours which is amazing where we can dance and vibe the songs played by the singer and enjoy concert type vide in the college. A part from this there are clubs inside the college where we can join and engage ourselves in our hobbies/ activities with the group. There are many other thing where one can find interest in and join the society/cell based on interview or an exam

Hostel Facilities

2

The hostel facilities are comparatively better than other colleges. The halls are very spacious in Kharagpur, we can find one basketball, football court, and badminton court, per hall. The washrooms are cleaned daily, and the water supply was never cut during my stay at IIT Kharagpur. There is also a gym facility in every hall and a Nescafe for every hall where we can get snack items and chai/coffee. The one drawback of IIT Kharagpur is the food. The food is so bad here some people entirely ignore the mess and depend on other sources of food like restaurants or outside daily catering servers for food. There will be some good items to eat like panner and chicken. Except that everything is worse. The dal, sambar server here is always watery and there serve water mixed with chilli powder in the name of gravy. This topic is subject to change as very few people like the mess food. So if you wanted to choose IIT Kharagpur, dont except the food to be good in here

Admission

I have applied for other IIT's but I did not get it. Admission to IIT only depends on your ADVANCED exam score. The exam can be taken only when you pass the criterian of JEE MAINS exam. There are 2 papers in the ADVANCED exam. One needs to score a minimum cut-off to get admission to IIT Kharagpur. There are many branches in IIT Kharagpur. So, depending on one's rank, one can see the previous cut-off and estimate what better department of college one gets. After the Advance exam we can put a list of colleges in ranking in which we wanted to take admission. There will be six rounds before the final allocation of the seats ends. Till the sixth round, you may move upper or stay in the same college that one has marked in the allocation ranking. After we get admission into the college, we get an email regarding the college credentials and the date of the opening where we needed to physically sign and get admitted into hostel/Hall in the college. The fees can be paid in the portal, and the credentials are sent to our mail before we reach campus.

Faculty

3

The faculty in the institute is top-notch. Every professor has great knowledge. The professors are only recruited if they complete their P.Hd only from reputed colleges around the world. The professors are all smart and can resolve any doubt of the student. The professors are smart, but some are not approachable. But if someone puts genuine interest in the subject then the professors will definitely guide you in achieving the goals. The best professor in the department is B.Sahoo sir, He has immense knowledge and he is always approachable. He teaches analog electronics. If someone wants to pursue a core career, then this subject is a must, and the professor tries best to create interest in the students.

Interview Experience

5

No, There was no Group Discussion or interview for the admission. The only way to get admission to IIT Kharagpur is through JEE Advanced if someone wants a B.Tech degree. One can also get into IIT through GATE and B.Arch examinations. The Advanced exam consists of Maths, Physics, and Chemistry sections where one needs to clear a cutoff in every section to be able to acquire a seat in IIT Kharagpur. There will be MCQ-based questions and integer questions. ADVANCED exam consists of 2 papers where each paper will contain sections of Maths, Physics and Chemistry. One has to prepare to these exams by solving many numbers of previous papers to get acquainted with the pattern and most people opt for coaching centers to thoroughly prepare for this kind of exams. There are many coaching centers available offline and online. One can easily find them on YouTube and Google.

Night Life

5

The college has good amenities like a swimming pool, gym for both boys and girls and a world-class library with computers where we can study. The library will be open 24 hours during exam times and during normal days the library is open till 12'O clock. The hostel/halls are open 24/7. we are free to get out of the hall anytime and can come into the hall anytime we want to. There are many restaurants inside the campus. The restaurant covers all the cuisine like north Indian, south Indian, chinese etc. The best place to hang out is the night canteens, where the food is served at affordable prices. The locality is safe to roam inside the campus as there is security 24/7 inside the campus.

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
