- College infrastructure is nice and well maintained
- Faculties are comparatively good and they help you in studies, however they don't get enough time to teach everything
- The college is autonomous, so the exam is managed by the college only and the exams are kindof easy
Dislikes
- The administration fails in providing security to th students from ragging and other stuffs
- The campus life is pretty boring till 2nd year coz there us a struct environment by the seniors
- Nearby areas of the college is not that maintained, there is only 1 mall and riverside where u can go and you have to repeat these places for the 4 years
Course Curriculum Overview
I have chosen Data science branch and the faculties are nice in this department and above all that the college is autonomous so it can do things according the way they want however the course is followed of MAKAUT university .The course curriculum can't get you a job but yes a good cgpa for the recruiters
Internships Opportunities
There are not many internships provied by the college and if some students want to do internships, the college helps you in that but yes that's mostly unpaid internships.Most of the nearby industres like IOCL provides internship opportunities
Placement Experience
Campus Placements starts after 6th semester and majorily mass recruiters visit the campus and there are more opportunities for the cor branchs as compared to the non core because of the presence of many industries in the nearby areas.For this year, 12lpa is the highest placement in Commvault but the total placement is only around 50-60%, so my plan is to try getting off campus opportunities by the end of my 3rd year
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fee for the year is 121000 and there are other charges as well like development fee of the college and university which makes the semester fee around 70k and hostel residence charge is 12k for a semester and the mess charge depends on what ypo eat.There are no such scholarships provided by the college but there are other state scholarships like west bengal SVMCM and jharkhand E-Kalyan
Campus Life
There are multiple clubs and society in the campus namely GDG, ISTE, IEEE and many other media clubs.There are well facilities of sports namely cricket, tennis, basketball and volleyball but the thing is you can completely enjoy all this only after your 2nd year. The atmosphere is library is great where you can see seniors preparing for their exams.
Hostel Facilities
There are around 5 boys hostels and 2 girls hostel, so there are hostels with 3 and 4 sharing rooms. In the hostel rooms, You will get a bed, a table and chair however there will be no cupboard and just a reck to keep your things in open.Hostel mess food is verage but yes cheaper than outside. And the hostel securityu is at the worst like any senior can enter the hostel in the night breaking the gates and many beer bottle you will find in the corridor and sometimes in your hostel room(thrown by seniors)
Admission
I had appeared for WBJEE through which engineering colleges of west bengal take admission and I had a rank of 16739, so I was getting Techno Main(lower branch) and Haldia Institute(data Sciench branch).I chose the college as it is autonomous and there isn't a lot of pressure and it's true as well but after coming here I regret my decision due to seniors and ragging stuff.
Faculty
The faculties are mostly kind and helpful, Englisdh language is used in the campus however they feel more comfortable with bengalese students so there is a little discrimination you will face and the ratio is 1:75. In a semester, two class tests are taken and end sem which are not very hard level exams
Night Life
The nightlife of the campus isn't that pretty good, as there are not amny places to chill and hangout, there is only a mall nearby and riverside where you can chill, and if you reside in hostels, for girls it's 7pm in-timing and for boys it's around 8pm which will later get flexible
