The college being located very much within the city could have utilized its resources in a better way. The management's interest in developing the college is questionable. On a concluding note I would like to say that we are what we make our college to me
Entrance Preview
CEE of Assam.I choose this course over BTech course in Central Institute of Technology , Tezpur . My marks was 162 out of a possible 300. With my marks I made it easily into my course despite being in the general category. The reason I choose this course was because of my interest in this field and also the good reputation of the college and the opportunity associated with it.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course has vast scope with regards to research as well as jobs. With development of Technology and India's inclinement towards a digital India this is one of the best course to pursue engineering.
Internships Opportunities
I am currently in 5th semester. We are yet to undego our internship but we had our summer training programs which were helpful.
Placement Experience
The placement senario is a decent one. Being the oldest engineering college in northeast India our college attracts several major Indian companies. Companies from the navratna and fortune 500 frequently visit our college in the placement season. In my course several it companies like tcs and Infosys offer decent package of about 4.5 lac per annum and the placement percentage is approximately 75%.
College Events
The college has a national level cultural festival named as "Pyrokenesis" and a national level techincal festival named as "udbhavam". The cultural festival is one of the biggest festival any college offers in northeast with participations from all over the country and featuring celebrity of national and international fame.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The hostels are modern with all modern facility. Being in the city if guwahati hostel accommodation is never a problem as most students are day boarders. Fee is approximately 8000 per semester. Rooms vary from hostel to hostel.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are several scholarship schemes available. Loans can also be availed from SBI but it is highly unlikely for anyone to take loan as the fee is minimal. The scholarships are:1. NEC: available for all students of northeast.2. Minority scholarship: for minority communities.3. Caste scholarship: for students belonging to scheduled castes and tribes.
Campus Life
The campus life is average compared to any national level institute but having said that the college is at par with the national institutes with regards to every other thing. The gender ratio is preferable to woman but that is true for every engineering college. Extracurricular activities are well promoted , dancing drama and singing being the top priority. Quiz and debates are few and rare . sports is also promoted fairly. Many competitions are organised from time to time.The student diversity is enormous. Students from different backgrounds come here to study and tolerance towards diversity is high. No major case of intolerance has ever occurred in college.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are very friendly and helpful. Academically as well socially they help you out in every way possible.
Faculty
The faculty here are very qualified. Almost everyone has a PhD and specialises in some field or the other. Also they are very much interested to teach you as long as you want to learn. Learning as we all know is a two way process.
