College of Engineering, Trivandrum Student Review

The specific aspect in which i chose electrical and electronics engineering is because it is a circuit branch. The curriculum definitely prepares us well for real world applications and academical pursuits. The exam scheduled in the first year drained me out completely. Because, the sem duration was around 3 months, in between that we had 2 series tests which is considered during internals. There was no time to prepare well for the exams.

Students become eligible for campys placement during 4th year, that is during the 7th semester. Amazon, wipro, infosys, texas instruments, Schneider electric, tata elxsi, shobha constructions etc are the top recruiters. 2000+ offers are made from more than 200 companies. Highest package was 33lpa. Average 6 to 7lpa.

The fees I've paid during admission procedures are listed below. College yearly fees: 9650? PTA fund: 15000? Bus fees: 2000? Extra: 1000? I've paid this much amount on the day of admission after getting keam allotment. For the next 3 years, we need to pay only the college yearly fees, which is 9650?. For SC/ST candidates, the yearly fees is 1000?. Apart from all these, there will be exam fees during every semester. That will be around 4500? which is common to all KTU students. Scholarships like egrants, central scholarships and many other private scholarships are available.

Technical fests for each department is there. Tesla for EEE dept Nexera for ECE dept Pantheon for civil engineering dept Aaram for architecture dept. Etc Cultural fests - Dhwani, Drishti, Disha Average range and accessibility of books and journals available in the library. Great support and wide opportunities for sports and extracurricular activities. Student friendly clubs both technical and non technical are there.

There is new block and old block in ladies hostel. In which the old block is not so maintained and poor condition of living. New block is well facilitated. Mess is well maintained and neat. And the food quality is good. Allotment to LH is based on annual income of the student and distance from home to college. Its a bit hard to get LH from the first day of the college. We need to find a Private hostel or pg until getting lh allotment.

CET is said to be the best college in Kerala. The top rankers in KEAM mostly prefer CET over any other colleges. I didn't applied to any other colleges too. CET was my first option during allotment. And i got there in the first allotment itself. For getting into CET we need to write KEAM entrance examination. The admission is only through merit seat. And there are no management seats.

Most of the faculties teach fantastically and are really cool and easy going. Some are strict in giving internal marks. They give internals as prescribed by ktu and does not show any partiality. But it is heard that in other private colleges and all, faculties try to give maximum marks for the students. That saddens us a lot. Course structure is not soo easy, but can adjust with it if we are able spend productive time during studying. In new 2024 scheme, marking scheme has changed. Now the marks are out of 100. 40 marks internals and 60 for written exam. Pass marks for written exam is 24. And there should be 50 out 100 overall for passing the exam.

Night life here is very calm and peaceful inside and outside the campus. The college gate is open until 9.30 and library closes at 8.45. Indoor gym are very actively used by the students from evening. In Ladies hostel, gate closes at 9.30pm and opens at 6.30am. The food in cafeterias and restaurants are not so tasty, but adjustable.
