IIM Sambalpur - The State-of-the-Art Campus Life

The pedagogy is excellent since majorly learning is through real-world case studies, reserach papers, peer discussions and interactive class activities. The professors provide materials and pre-reads at the starting of the term and the content is highly focussed on practical learning. The AI sessions are enriching. The difficulty level of exams vary among the instructors but usually is aligned with topics already taught.

The year wise fees is Rs.21,01,000 for 2 years and year wise break up are Rs.10,58,000 for the first year and Rs.10,43,000 for the second year of the program. The tuition fees for both the years is Rs. 7,00,000. The registration fees charged is Rs. 50,000 which iss adjusted later with term 1 fees. Cjuation fees is Rs. 20,000 which is refundable at the end of the 2 year course. The rest charges are Placement charges, Student Affairs Council charges, Alumni charges etc. There is no demarkation category wise but for foreign students the breakup is different and there are several scholarships floated throughout the year for financial aid.

The annual fest of IIM Sambalpur is Ethos and every year there is a unique theme. It is a huge event where students across other IIMs and private institutes participate in various events. The other technical and non-technical clubs make sure the students are having a gala time along with the hectic MBA schedule. Echo the CSR club of IIM Sambalpur is worth mentioning.

The rooms provided are on first-cum-first serve basis. Many students receive a single accomodation fully air-conditioned room while some might get a double occupancy AC room allotted. The room has a bed, mattress, study table, lamp and a side table. Registration process is very smooth. Meal quality is decent.

I considered SCMHRD Pune (MBA-BA) along with IIM Sambalpur as my top choices. I chose IIM Sambalpur due to the fact that it is an institute of national importance. The infrastrcuture provided is one of the best in the industry compared to the fees charged, which was a bit unjustified for the fees demand by the other institute.

The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:80 across 4 sections. The are extremely approachable irrespective of academics and otherwise guidances. Most of them are Phd holders from other eminent IIMs hence their knowledge is highly valuable to students. There are 3 terms each year and each term has a mid-term and an end-term, plus, before and after these there are quizzes held for constant learning. Students who are well-prepared and are caught up with daily learnings fare well due to the supportive environment.

My application got shortlisted by IIM Sambalpur based on my secondary, higher secondary, graduation(BTECH) and work experience basis.I faced a personal interview which was fifteen to twenty-five minutes long assessing my intention to pursue the degree.

The campus is located in an isolated area of Sambalpur hence it is not allowed for students to wander, unless it is an emergency. The security of the campus is also highly efficient for the same reason. The in campus night life is a delight due to the several club activities and festivities going on. Hostel timings are 6 am in the morning till 11pm.
