A good private college for B.Tech

Most of the positives and the negatives have already been mentioned in the preceding answers. One big negative is the small campus. The campus has a very small open space for sports and outdoor activities.

The course curriculum hasn't gone major changes since the last 7-10 years. Engineering being a study of technology should always be updated with the latest technologies in the course curriculum. The flexibility to choose your subjects of choice is also absent. Parts of the course content is irrelevant in today's world.We've our semester exams at the end of each semester after the practicals are over. During the semester we've two internal exams.

The placement scenario is good for the CSE, IT and ECE students. For the rest of the departments, placement is very poor. TCS is the mass recruiter for the ECE branch i.e. the branch I study in. About half the students in our branch get placed.

We've 3 major fests - a) EDGE - the second largest techno-management fest of eastern India that's hosted over 3 days, usually in the month of April. EDGE boasts of a massive prize pool of more than ?8 lakh rupees and its increasing every year. It has been attended by thousands of students every year and has hosted artists like Rahul Subramanian, Sahil Shah, Nishant Tanwar, Sorabh Pant, TVF, etc. Apart from EDGE we've Anakhronos the cultural fest; Eclectica - the literary fest.

The fee structure is much cheaper than other private colleges. For B. Tech students, it's approximately ?45000 per semester. The fee structure for the other streams too is not very high compared to other private colleges.

The government of West Bengal provides Tuition Fee Waiver for economically weak students who take admission in this college through WBJEE. The college itself doesn't provide any such scholarship though the loan facility might be available on request.

Sports facilities are very bad and need much improvement. The participation of students in extra curricular activities is very encouraged in the college and we've had talented students who have repeatedly made the college proud with their achievements.

The alumni network is very helpful and does guide us a lot. We also have alumni meets conducted by the students of each department once every year. Besides, the alumni keep visiting the college for pep talks, encouraging to take up new ventures and all.

I sat for the WBJEE exam and accordingly got selected for the ECE branch in B. Tech. In this process, we're required to give the exam and fill up a preference list where the preferred institute and the courses are chosen by the candidate. When the results are out, the counseling process begins. It goes on for 3 rounds. At the end of the 3rd round, the top selection from that list is alloted if the rank permits so.

Except for a few teachers most of them are too much into books. The teaching level is mediocre. Practical application of technologies isn't encouraged among students. The teachers themselves aren't familiar with new and upcoming technologies.
