Course Curriculum Overview

4

I would rate the course curriculum as good to useful. The subject like data structure and algorithm, computer architecture, and organization, DBMS, programming, Python, object oriented programming in Java help me build a strong base in computer science. Also includes new topics like AI and machine learning and Blockchain technology, which are useful for future jobs and studies however, some subjects are more theory based and need more practical work or real life project. The teaching could include more interactive classes and hands-on learning. Overall, the course is great, but there are some scopes for an improvement

Internships Opportunities

4

Ideally, don't know about the internship yet because I am currently studying in second year and they provide internship for 3rd years. But I heard from the seniors that college provides decent of internship. For branches like food technology, agriculture and engineering the internships usually started in second year.

Placement Experience

4

The placement scenario at Haldia Institute of technology is quite decent specially for the branch Computer science engineering student usually become eligible for on campus placements from sixth semester. Many well-known companies visit the campus every year like TCS Infosys , cognizant , Accenture ,PWD etc In last few years around 85 to 90% student students get placed. The average packages are 4 to 5 lpa, in 2025 the highest package is 75LPA , in 2024 it was 40 LPA in 2023 it was 33LPA. My plan after getting the degree is higher studies in very prestigious IIT or getting a very good placement

Fees and Financial Aid

I have paid combined 110000 as admission fee hostel fee for six month that is ?12,000 and 5000 is the caution money for the hostel and the admission fee also includes first sem fee. After that, I have paid ?82,000 for second semester that includes 12,000 hostel fee. Also that means 70,000 for the semester and 12,000 for the hostel. After that, I paid third semester fee around ?72,000 because in odd semester my college charges some college development fee fees annual library fee annual sports fee and some miscellaneous charges that's why 72000 rs and instead of ?70,000. An hour college also provide TFW facility that means the TFW students don't have to pay the tuition fee. Around 100000rs is the fee for the whole course(4yr) for tfw students.

Campus Life

5

My overall compass live experience at H IT has been very positive and full of learning beyond academics. The environment is lively the students get many chances to explore their talents and interests. The college host several events every year like Prayukti and Rivera . The library at H IT oil equipped with wide range of textbook, reference books, and national and international journals it is one of the biggest central library in Bengal. The classrooms are modern most of them share equity in air-conditioning and most of them has a smart board. Haldia Institute of technology also organization, annual sports events and several types of tournaments like cricket football, and basketball tournament. I am a member of IEEE HIT SB , which organization workshops, seminars, hackathons technical sessions being part of it has helped me improve my technical knowledge, teamwork and leadership skills. There are also other students run clubs for coding, music, dance, photography, etc..

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostel facilities is quite good like food is very cheap there usually 30 for Veg Thali , 40 for Thali, 55 for chicken. The registration process for the hostel is easy and hostel is affordable t they charge around ?12,000 per semester that is very affordable. There are many pages and flats that students can rent around the college campus and they are affordable too.

Admission

I choose (Haldia) Institute of technology because it has a good name in West Bengal for engineering specially for the computer science branch the college offers, good facilities, experience, teachers and strong placement opportunities. I also like the peaceful campus and plain academic environment. I had applied for other colleges like Netaji Subhash Institute of technology .St Thomas Institute of technology, academy of technology, and from some of them (St. Thomas) I got the offers for admission, but I choose Aldi because it provides better infrastructure, hostel facilities, and balance between studies and practical learning. I get rejection from some of the colleges that I have applied for like Jadhav Pu University , Kalyani government engineering college , and IEM Kolkata I could not get into them because my WBJEE rank was not high enough for the colleges. Overall, I feel satisfied for my decision for taking admission in HIT Haldia.

Faculty

4

Faculty student ratio is almost 2:10 I really liked Prof Hojafa Sir and Atrayee mam and Ayandeep sir . They were very helpful and helped me throughout my college journey. There are no faculty I dislike to be very honest. Exam levels are moderate to heard. I faced difficulty in math mathematics. Course curriculum is moderately relevant. Around 10-15% students failed to clear at least one paper in each semester.

Interview Experience

5

No i havent faced any of that group discussion , interview or Twritten test during my admission . I got the college through wbjee exam . i had to submit my wbjee rank card and my ids and my marksheets .(10th and 12th)

Night Life

3

The nightlight in Haldia Institute of technology is quite calm and quiet change the college is located in semi Aarya. There are agent match of atypical nightlight like in big cities but students still find OS to relax and enjoy their evenings. There is a place called Riverside the haldi river present there student usually go there for relaxing and for spending some quality time of their life. The hostel time for girls is 7 PM and four boys. It is 8:30 PM. The main academic buildings are locked after class around 7 PM. Student mostly hangout at the places inside the campus or just outside the campus gate. There are small tea shops just in front of the campus. Students usually sit there and spend some time after the classes. Outside the campus, popular hangout spots include city Center Haldia and some small food joints, etc. even though the nightlife is limited, it gives students a peaceful focused environment, the quite surrounding help in studying bonding with friends .

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
