Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum of my branch is overall good and it covers the important basics we need in first year. The subjects are simple but they help in making a strong base for next semesters. I also chose this course because it has subjects like Engineering Graphics Programming Physics and Maths which are important for any engineering student. For real world use the programming and graphics subjects help the most because they build the skills we actually need later. Some subjects feel too theory heavy but overall the syllabus prepares us for further studies. One thing that should be improved is that one unit should be removed from the syllabus because sometimes it gets too long and we dont get enough time for self study practising programming and doing other activities. Teaching can also be more practical instead of only using PPTs. The exam schedule is fine. We have two units then prelim and then final end sem exam. The difficulty is easy to medium and if we study a bit regularly then passing is not hard. Only thing is sometimes internal exams feel rushed so it would be better if they are spaced out properly.

Internships Opportunities

3

Most internship opportunities in our college start from second or third year and they mostly come from nearby tech companies manufacturing units and small startups instead of big MNCs. Students usually get roles like web development basic software testing Android development QC QA support design help or simple onsite technical work based on their branch. Many internships are project type where you have to make small modules help in automation or do mini projects that later get used in final year work. Stipend is not sure some companies give around ?2000 to ?5000 but many internships are unpaid and still good for experience. Some seniors get internships through faculty contacts or MOUs with other institutes but mostly we depend on campus notices training cell or directly talking to local companies. Overall internships are useful because they give real exposure and a better idea of what skills we actually need in the industry.

Placement Experience

4

In my college students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester and every year many companies come for hiring. Recently companies like TCS Accenture Cognizant Hitachi JSW Group Philips Axis Bank and some startups also visited so we get both IT and core chances. As per the latest data the highest package was around 24 LPA and the average stays around 6 to 6.5 LPA for most students and the lowest offers start from 3.5 LPA so it depends a lot on the role and company. Many students get placed but it mostly depends on skills performance and branch so it is not guaranteed for everyone. I feel the college gives decent chances but we also have to do our own preparation because competition is high. If I dont get placement from campus then I will try off campus also because there are many openings outside specially in IT. Overall placements are good for this level college and since companies keep coming for drives students who prepare properly usually get at least one offer.

Fees and Financial Aid

In our college the fee structure is almost same every year. For BE Computer Engineering my yearly fees is around ?127000 and this includes tuition fee development fee exam fee and some small charges. In first year there was also registration and admission fee but from second year it is not there. Caution money is taken only once in first year and we get it back after the course ends. My total fees for all four years comes around ?420000 to ?430000 depending on small changes made by college. Every year fees increases a little like 2 to 3k but not a big change. For management quota students the fees is higher compared to normal students. I am from OBC category so I get the Post Matric Scholarship from MahaDBT. My family income is below 55000 rupees so almost my full tuition fee gets covered. Many of my friends from SC ST also get full fee reimbursement. General category students dont get scholarship so they have to pay full fees. The scholarship amount depends on category and income and it is very helpful for students like us because college fees are high but scholarship reduces the burden. The whole process is online and we have to apply every year.

Campus Life

3

My overall campus life experience is good especially in terms of social activities and events though there are a few limitations. The college celebrates its annual cultural festival called Sanskriti usually held in the second half of the year, and the technical festival Zion which takes place in the early months of the semester. The library is one of the best parts of the campus with a large range of books, journals and reference material available for all subjects so students always get what they need for studies. Every classroom has a projector and some even have smart screens which makes learning easier and more interactive. There are many student clubs like Sanskruti for cultural events and Durgayans, who participate in BAJA and build cars, along with other technical and event clubs. But first-year students are not allowed to join these clubs because the college wants us to focus on academics in the beginning. One drawback is that there is no ground inside the campus so all sports and extracurricular activities are held at another DY Patil campus which is around 1.5 km away. Still whenever events happen the crowd is active and energetic and the clubs add a lot of fun and involvement to student life.

Admission

I applied for three colleges DY Patil Akurdi DY Patil Pimpri which is my current college and Nutan College. I didnt get admission in DY Patil Akurdi because the cutoff was higher than my score. I got admission in Nutan but I didnt take it because the placement ratio is low the average package is not that good and the crowd and environment also didnt feel right for me. Compared to the other colleges I chose DY Patil Pimpri because the academic environment is better and placements are decent for my branch. The campus is clean teachers are good and the college has a better name than Nutan. There are more seminars and workshops also and overall the atmosphere feels more motivating. The admission process of my college is simple. Admission happens through CAP round by the government. Main eligibility is 12th science with PCM and giving entrance exam like MHT CET or JEE. Most students prefer MHT CET. Cutoff depends on branch and CSE IT has the highest cutoff. My admission experience was smooth and I didnt face any issue.

Faculty

4

The student to teacher ratio in our college is around 1 to 60 so sometimes it feels a bit crowded but teachers still try to help and they answer doubts when we ask. Most faculties are friendly and if we go to them personally they explain things properly. The teacher I like the most is Pallavi Jadhav mam who teaches Engineering Graphics. I like her because she teaches slow and in a way that we can understand. EG is a little confusing but because of her I am able to understand it well. The faculty I dont like much is Ashwini Pawar mam who teaches Fundamental of Programming Language. She doesnt teach bad but I personally dont get it because she teaches too fast and doesnt go deep in the topic so sometimes I cant follow. In our course every subject has 2 units and then we have a prelim before final exams. At the end SPPU takes the main sem exam. The difficulty is easy to medium and not many students fail if they study properly. The marking scheme is simple and mostly based on understanding not very tough questions. Assignments and practicals also help in scoring. Overall the curriculum is useful because most subjects are basics that we will need in next semesters. Some parts can be updated with new technology but still it is manageable and helpful.

Night Life

2

Nightlife around our college is quite normal and calm since the campus itself closes by evening. The gym library and cafeteria all shut down by around 6:30 to 7 pm and even the public areas inside campus don’t stay open late so most students head out after classes. The hostel also has fixed in-timings, usually around 8 to 9 pm so students staying there need to return on time. For hanging out students mostly go to nearby places outside the college like the food stalls small cafes and chai spots around Nigdi and Pimpri because they stay open till late and are good for relaxing after a long day. Some of the common spots students visit are Bhole Patil Chowk area, small cafés near the highway and fast food outlets around the main road. The area around the college is generally safe to roam at night since it’s crowded and well lit but still students prefer going in groups.

Other Applied Colleges

Nutan Maharashtra Institute of Engineering and Technology - [NMIET] Talegaon | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Engineering)

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
