Very Good College for CSE/IT Dept.

Overall if I rate my College it's a very good college in Kolkata. But there are some negative sides as well. The college is having very small campus. There is no proper place as playground. On more thing is that from the day one I joined this college I am seeing the construction work going on in the campus, which sometimes really disturb during the classes. The college is also having very small library.

The college is under MAKAUT(Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology) formally known as WBUT(West Bengal University of Technology). So, the Course Curriculum is based on the course structured followed by the university. And I must say that what we have studied till now was very old syllabus and It's good that from the coming year it's going to be updated. If I describe my course curriculum it is well structured corresponding to each semester. Exam Structured is also followed according to the university. We have 2 internal exam for each subjects in each semester. Also we have assignments, quizzes, presentations and mini projects Which need to be submitted for each subject.

If I talk about the opportunities in this college, it's different for different departments. I am lucky that I am a part of CSE department which is having the highest percentage of placement from the college every year. I am currently in 7th semester and I am already placed with a package of 8LPA. There are around 130+ companies visit for placement every year for all the departments. The highest package which I Know from this college is 12LPA. But talking about the average it's around 4 LPA. There are lots of companies which also hire intern from the college.

There are lots of Technical and cultural events happen every year in the college. These are the following events: 1. EDGE - The Annual Techno Management Fest of the college. It is the 2nd largest Technical fest in eastern India and largest in Kolkata. It is organised by The official Science Club of the college named Geekonix. And I am proud that I am a part of this community. 2. Anakhronos - The Annual cultural fest of the college. 3. Eclectica - The Annual literary Fest of the college. 4. Filanthropia - The annual Social Fest of the college which is organised by the NSS(National Social Service) club of the college called as Samaritans. 5. Samarth - It's the latest club added into the list. They organise different events for personality development, motivation, Guidance, strengthening minds of the students of the college.

Fee structure of the college is not very expansive. According to the facilities and opportunities we get here the respective fee is feasible and I must say that it's less from the colleges of other states.

There is no such specific scholarship or loan facility provided by the college but any student from any states can avail benefits of the respective state government/ Central government scholarships if eligible. Also personal loans taken by the student is also granted by the college.

As mentioned above there are lots of student community/clubs working in the college. So there is no lack of extracurricular activities inside the college. You will always find some kind of events going on by some club like blood donation camp, spending a day with orphan children, walkathons, etc. There is also an Annual Cricket competition of the college called a TICL(Techno India Cricket League). Labs are also very well equipped and maintained.

There is an office Alumni club in the college called GeekAlumns. They are actually the passouts who were the part of Geekonix(the official Science Club). They contribute every year for the Technical Fest EDGE. Also talking about rest of the alumns they are also very helpful.

I have applied for WBJEE(West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam) and I have got 6153 rank. After that the next round was counseling round which held in 3 phases. I this round I have to choose some of the colleges I want to study and after each round they assign a college according to the rank. I was selected for different college after my 1st phase of counseling and I have applied for upgradation which happened after 3rd phase and I got this college. Also during the 1st phase all the relevant documents needed to be verified at the given center by them.

Faculties of the college are very good and well experienced. They are very friendly and well behaving. I am from the CSE department but according to the requirement of the course I got to learn from teacher of different departments like ECE/EE , Chemistry, Humanity and my favorite Maths department and I must say they are all very professional and helping. They are not just a class teacher for you you can ask them for help whenever you want they are always ready to help
