What Students Say
Likes
- The management was very kind and helpful.
- The infrastructure is world class.
- The course structure was informative and up to date.
Dislikes
- The city was small. It was the based in leicester city.
- The weather was not suitable for me personally. It is always cold outside.
- The amount of lectures were less. (Twice a week)
Course Curriculum
- The curriculum was fantastic at the same time difficult. We had 9 modules and we needed to pass all of them with 50% marks. It was a mix of theory and practical knowledge.
- The only negative part was the breaks in between lectures. I had 4 class in 2 days in a week. You need to do part time work to survive there. Each lecture was for 3 hours and in between there was a 1 hour break.
- You can ask the university for networks to find jobs but faculty can't help you with jobs. You can only work part time when you are going to classes.
Admission Experience
- I applied for 5 Universities in UK. They all were based in big cities:
1. DeMontfort University in which I got admission. I had to wait for 1 month for the approval and went through 2 interviews to get shortlisted.
2. University of Essex - I applied for it before DeMonfort University but did not receive any replies from them.
3. University of East London - I got offer letter from them but the rankings were not that great so I didn't move ahead.
4. University of West Minster - This was my dream university and I got the interview call but it was too late, I had already paid my fees by that time.
5. University of Durham- It was a very small town and I thought I won't be able to explore much if I join it at that point of time. - I chose DeMontfort as the ranking of DeMontfort University was better than other options I had. The infra was amazing. They have all the latest tech in the University. The faculty were very professional and experienced. The place had a lot of Indian students which I thought was great. The admission process was also very smooth and the recruiter were very transparent about the career opportunities.
- I went for winter intake which starts in January. I took admission in January because I wanted to complete 3 years of work experience before leaving my job and start my Master's.
- The admission process took around 3 months to complete which included my documentation, proposal, approvals, interviews and results. I started in September which was late already and I got approval in mid January.
Faculty
- There were around 250 people in my class. Most of them were Indians only. Asian people mostly prefer to do Master's. It is costly for them Europeans.
- There was 3 faculties for 250 students and it was not that difficult for us to communicate with them. They were very patient and helpful. I had a good relationship with the faculties.
- Teaching methods are very modern and practical. They want you to do research on your own and if you find any difficulties, you can contact the faculties anytime. The approach is not that sufficient for you to grab a job. You have to work on securing extra skills to ensure you have a good CV.
Campus Life
- DeMontfort University had a lot of different courses and a lot of buildings. I think they have 6 buildings for different courses. They have seperate library which runs 24/7. They have seperate sports areas. They is gym and swimming facility for students at discounted rates. All the different religious communitues used to celebrate theur festivals in community parks and halls.
Part Time Jobs
- You can go for campus placements by giving extra £1000 in addition to the fees. It depends on the students whether they want to take the roles mentioned above.
- I have no idea how many got these roles. I wanted a business analyst role and I am studing more to get a job. The wages starts from £15 per hour and can go upto £50 per hour.
- As a student, you are allowed to work for 20 hours per week and in full time, you can work for 40-60 hours according to your roles and companies.
- Most of indian students work at bars, restraunts, clubs, pubs and warehouses. These jobs are much easier to get and wage rates are also sufficient to survive in UK.
- You need to use job portals like indeed, total jobs etc. to find jobs online and you can go to these places personally to talk to the managers. Getting a part time job is not an east task. You need to send 100s of applications and visit as much places as possible.
Placement
- There is an abundance in job roles in UK. They need skilled employees to run daily operations. They need people who are willing to work professionally and are well spoken.
- The percentage of people securing jobs are more than 50%.
- The average salary packages in UK ranges from £25,000- £40,000 which is good enough for beginners. Major companies recruiting students are FlintBishop, Starbucks, Mcdonalds etc.
Accommodation
- I found my accomodation on the DeMontfort University website only. They have collaborations with several student accomodation companies. My accomodation was Unite Students. It was somewhat expensive compared to other accommodations but facilities were excellent.
- I used to pay £650 per month. The staff was very helpful and informative. It was situated just behind the University. It took me 5 mins. To reach my building.
Exams
- DeMontfort University requires Ielts score of minimum 6.5 overall. I scored 7 in Ielts.
- You need to have undergrad degree, appointment letter from the company, work experience letter from the company, your salary slip and manager recommendations for the course. I took recommendations from 3 manager and my director also which strenghthened my application.
- Interview is compulsory in DeMontfort University. They want candidates who can understand and speak English very well. They want to know about your work experience and the projects you did in the previous job role.
Fees
- I paid 17,000 pounds in total. I got 2000 pounds worth of scholarship.
- My course was for 15 months. My course MBA didn't had any semesters, so I paid the full amount. They made me pay 11,000 pounds in tbe beginning and the remaining 6000 pounds after 3 months. Global MBA is for 15 months and then you get 4 months to get a job. You can get different payment plans also and I don't have much information about it.
Scholarship
- There is scholarship available for people who have prior work experience. I had 3 years of work experience, So I got £2000 worth of scholarship. It also depends on the interview. If they think you are worth the money, they will surely give you discounts and help you with accomodations. In my class, I think 25% of the people got scholarship and all of them had prior work experience. They typical amount that people get is £2000 in my knowledge.
