Birmingham City University Intakes and Deadlines 2026

There are three intakes available at Birmingham City University to start a course:

  • September intake (largest intake)
  • January intake
  • May/June intake (very limited options)

Birmingham City University Admission Requirements 2026

The students are required to fulfill requirements to be eligible to apply to Birmingham City University for the respective level of studies (UG or PG). The university itself evaluates if the submitted application is eligible for admission or not.

For Postgraduate Courses

The students require a prior degree of at least 3 years from a renowned university or institution.

Waiver options for UG at BCU:

For Indian students who studied from a recognized Indian board among any of these: Andhra Pradesh, Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE), CISCE, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, are eligible for language waivers if they scored:

  • 65% - For courses requiring IELTS 6.0 overall
  • 70% - For courses requiring IELTS 6.5 overall
  • 80% - For courses requiring IELTS 7.0 overall

For boards like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, the percentage criteria will be the same as above. Along with that, the students will have to give a BCU Listening and Speaking Test. The minimum required score for the test is 5.5.

The remaining boards will have to go for the official language tests.

  • A student might still have to go for the language test after fulfilling waiver requirements for Visa processing.
  • Students can opt for the Foundation or International Year One pathway program at BCU if they are not able to fulfill the academic or language requirements.

Scholarship

  • Yes, that time the university offered me a scholarship of Two Thousand GBP, and I remember after the initial payment of the fee, they offered the scholarship, which was reduced from my course fee, and the balance course fee was paid by me in three installments within the time. And I am not aware of the other batchmates' scholarships and the amount they received or did not receive.

  • Yes I received a scholarship for my course as I met all the eligible criteria. The amount was 1500 pounds, which was around 1.50 lakhs Indian Rupees. Yes, all my friends received from India, as everyone got unconditional offers from the University.
  • There is no specific number to be honest, but about 50 - 100. It felt like a first come first serve type of model. as we apply in the beginning we might get it.
