- Management for computer science is really good, when i face any problem, they solve that same day also if i have other problems like in visa or other related things then they have student union where they support the student and give us resolution.
- The university also provide us support in Healthcare, they have dedicated UHS (university health service) they have tied up with NHS and we get appointment on the same day and also it's really good for students.
- They have all the equipments me for students if they want camera, mic, laptops, computers to use, they gave us for free in rent for few days.
Dislikes
- The building is far away, like if I have one class from 12 PM to 2 PM in The Diamond building then they give another class from 2 PM to 4 PM at another building like The Regent Court building which is 10 minutes walk from that building.
Campus Life
- My campus experience at Sheffield was lively with events, fests, clubs, and many extracurricular activities. The University has several campuses, such as Western Bank, Engineering, St George’s, and the Health Sciences area.
- We had great facilities, including the IC, the Diamond, sports centres, and UHS. Popular events like Varsity, HackSheffield, and cultural nights made student life exciting, along with sports teams, societies, and volunteering activities.
Fees
- Tuition fees were 31,500 pounds, and I got a scholarship of 5,000 pounds. And we have to pay this amount in two installments. First in November and second in February, and we can extend these fee payments till May or June.
- For student accommodation, I paid approx 5,500 pounds for a year, and it was a really good experience in accommodation because we get every facilities needed for students, and the rooms were also pretty good.
- For transportation, I always prefer the bus as it is cheaper; for one ride, it costs me 1.5 pounds to get anywhere I go. And monthly groceries cost approx 50 to 60 pounds, depend upon you make food at home or eat outside. Because outside it's expensive.

- The quality of teaching of some of the professors was top notch. I was quite lucky with a few of them.
- Our campus and the facilities provided to us were actually very nice. We had 2 libraries- The diamond and the information commons which were open 24x7 to support us.
- I think I made friends with students of many different countries. The people in our college were really diverse and came from different different countries which I never thought I would make friends from.
Dislikes
- The complaint I had with my course was it somehow lacked industry exposure and practical knowledge which would have made me understand things better. A lot of it focused on theory.
- Rising cost of living expenses in the UK. It still was used to be better when I was there but recently prices of accomodations and grocery stores have shot up massively.
- The weather could be a bummer for alot of people. Here in Sheffield, it rains almost everyday maybe and the weather is always gloomy. I was okay with it at one point but it used to bother a lot to my friends.
Campus Life
- The whole city center in Sheffield was our campus. I wasn’t in one separate area. We had our department buildings all over the city, and that was the best part.
- Our campus had all the facilities. Libraries, sports venues, clubs, bars, food joints, everything.
- Sheffield Varsity was the main festival that happened in our college, which was sports competitions against the other college in the city, Sheffield Hallam University.
- There were tons of societies, and all of them had many events lined up all year. In general, our college had a lot of extracurricular events, be it sports events, club nights, or food festivals as well.
Fees
- I did a master's course, so the fees for me were around £25000. We had an option to pay in full once or in 2 installments.
- I used to live in a private student accommodation which cost me around £8000 for 51 51-week tenancy.
- The fee structure was either yearly or semester-wise.
- I was very bad at cooking and did not want to waste a lot of my time. So I personally used to spend somewhere around £700 a month, which included my food, grocer, ies and in general, transportation and daily life expenditures.
- There were people who used to spend half of it as well and were comfortable. I just didn’t think much when I was spending my money.

Likes
- The University of Sheffield is a very reputable university and part of the Russel Group, which consists of elite UK universities. It has a very strong alumni network globally.
- Most professors are very highly qualified & knowledgeable.
- There is a lot of support available for students from professors, Teaching Assistants, Personal tutors & student services/students' union. Sheffield SU has been voted the best SU in the UK for many years now.
Dislikes
- There is not a lot of support for International students from career service. Most of their support is limited to tailoring your resume & cover letter which is helpful for graduates. However, for students with prior work experience or International students there should be focused support especially with the challenges of getting skilled worker visa.
- A lot of modules are taught in a year. Hence, teaching can feel a bit rushed. The onus is on you to study regularly & attend your lectures to be in a good position.
- For my course of Information Systems, there should have been more electives from Computer Science department. As a Software Engineer I would have loved that.
Campus Life
- The University of Sheffield is an open campus spread all over the beautiful and green city of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England. There is no other campus.
- Information Commons is the main library. There are other libraries as well.
- Sports facilities include football grounds, cricket pitches, tennis & badminton courts, swimming pools, gyms, etc. There is the University Health Service (UHS) available if you need it.
- Sheffield Student Union has consistently been voted the best Student Union in the UK.
- There is always something going on. During the Fresher's week, there are many parties. Many fairs – career, sports, art, music, etc. – are also organised.
- SU is a democratic organisation. The leadership & organising committees are selected via elections by the students.
Fees
- Total tuition fees were £24,400 at that time. I paid in 2 instalments. One can pay in full if they want.
- I stayed in university accommodation, which was £6,800 for the year. I paid in 3 instalments. Private accommodations are cheaper.
- Monthly expenses excluding rent come to £200-300 for food, groceries & other required things. I generally walked to class. In Sheffield, you get a student discount on public transport.
