How to pay the Birmingham City University tuition fees for International Students?

Birmingham City University (BCU) has a structured process for paying tuition fees, especially for international students. The process splits into two main stages after getting admission to BCU:

  • A 50% deposit (pre-enrolment/CAS) and
  • The remaining balance (post-enrolment).

For all new students admitted, the tuition fee and the amount one needs to pay will be stated in the offer letter. If the student is paying for their own tuition fees, then they will need to pay a 50% deposit before they enrol (before the CAS deadline).

Once the student has paid the 50% tuition fee deposit and has enrolled, they will be able to pay the remaining balance of their tuition fees. One can opt to pay the remaining balance either in full or spread the cost over 3 instalments, one in each study term.

As per the university, direct bank transfers to the university's account are not accepted; the students must use official secure portals to avoid issues. The students may use Flywire for international bank transfers or cards for depositing fees.

Note: If the student is pursuing postgraduate studies with a student loan, then they do not need to pay the 50% deposit. However, they will need to provide evidence of your loan to be able to enrol.

  • My accommodation was off-campus, and it was a twenty-minute walk to the university. I used to stay in a shared accommodation and used to pay around three hundred GBP per month.
  • I can recommend seeking the help of alumni, friends, or family members, primarily if they cannot contact trusted rental platforms near the university. To my knowledge, mostly Indian students stay at shared accommodations at a reasonable distance from universities.

  • I had found my accommodation through amber.
  • Weekly it was 165 and monthly 660 for a 100 sqft personal room and toilet, Wi-Fi, parking, hot water, microwave, fridge, oven,
  • Understanding the weekly concept and the type of rooms like bronze, silver, ensuite and other facilities it.
  • Take accommodation for shorter duration and after reaching UK start searching for flats and bungalow that will cost you less anyways you are sharing the room or toilet or kitchen
  • My accommodation was a 3-minute walk to the university. Most of the students stay under 5 miles from uni; either you take an expensive room close to uni or live far from uni and spend on travelling – one and the same thing.

  • I have opted for Off campus accommodation as it was affordable and I found it through an app which I do not remember the name of.
  • The monthly rent was 600 pounds including all the bills.
  • I was lucky to find a landlord who helped me. My house was about 5 miles away from the university.
  • Indian students mostly reside in Coventry, Solihull, City Center.

I chose UK because they provide a 1-year master's in budget universities, and I could get 2-year visa. The university experience has been good, the ranking was average, plus there are good opportunities in Birmingham for part-time and full-time as well. Also, I felt I could do so much more in the university if I weren't here for 1 year; there is so much to explore and get into.

It was the closest major city that I had not experienced enough. I had a lot of friends going to study in Birmingham as well as some friends who live in Birmingham. It was a last-minute decision, to be honest - between Nottingham Trent and Birmingham City.
