The University of the West of Scotland has five campuses across Scotland and London. Paisley and London campuses are considered to be the primary ones as they welcome the largest international student cohort. Four of the campuses are in Scotland itself, and one is in London Docklands.

University of the West of Scotland Accommodation

Where you live during your studies at the University of the West of Scotland can shape your entire student experience, from budget to lifestyle. Finding an affordable accommodation is not always easy. UWS offers on-campus accommodation only at its Paisley and Ayr campuses. The London campus doesn’t have any on-campus accommodation.

UWS Paisley Campus Accommodation

Paisley is the oldest of all UWS campuses. It offers two main student on-campus accommodation facilities:

Many students choose to live off campus in the city of Glasgow. The city is a 10-minute train ride from Paisley. Paisley Gilmour Street is the nearest train station to the university, within a 10-15 minute walk. There are also various bus stops connecting the city within the budget. Budget-friendly Accommodation near UWS Paisley Campus

On-campus accommodation is the most cost-effective across all the options available. The students can choose to live off campus for work, etc., with similar rent. Paisley Apartments and Townhead Apartments are two private budget accommodation providers in Paisley. The cost of rent can range between £120 (INR 14,780) and £175 (INR 21,555)/week.

UWS London Campus Accommodation

University of the West of Scotland, London campus doesn’t offer any on-campus accommodation to the students. UWS provides guidance and resources to help students find safe, affordable options. The students need to find private accommodation by themselves.

Students can choose an accommodation in Docklands, Canary Wharf, Poplar, Canning Town, Stratford, Mile End, or East India. These are all within 15-45 minutes of distance from the UWS London campus.

UWS Ayr Campus Accommodation

UWS directly manages Ayr Residence (also called Ayr Riverside Residence). It has the capacity for around 200 students. It's located close to the campus on University Avenue. The students can also choose to live off campus. The university is on a 1-hour commute to Glasgow.

Part-time jobs at UWS Campus

The University of the West of Scotland allows both on-campus and off-campus part-time jobs. The students can work for 20 hrs/ week or less, as per the UK Visa guidelines.

Note: The students at the Dumfries campus reported on Reddit that the train from Dumfries to Glasgow takes a couple of hours, so it isn’t feasible to work in Glasgow and do the commute each day. While for Paisley campus, the students can commute to Glasgow if better pay and work opportunity strike.
