Is there any option to switch streams in IRMA after 3-4 months of admission?

Akanksha
Mansi Jain

IRMA doesn't allow its students to change courses on a semester-wise basis. This means that if you select a particular stream, you won't be able to switch to another one after 3-4 months. To avoid any confusion later on, it might be a good idea to research the different specializations offered at IRMA, such as Agri-business Management, Cooperatives Management, etc., before applying. This will help you choose the program that's best suited to your interests.

Is it possible to get converted in IRMA and TAPMI with low graduation scores?

Bidita GhoseLives in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

IRMA gives only 2% weightage to Graduation score. So low graduation score will not impact much. If you have more than 85%ile in CAT you will convert both the colleges based on the performance of Personal interviews as it has 35% weightage. DO well in PI and you are through the process to these prestigious colleges.

Students willing to pursue Rural Management should join IRMA. It is one of the best colleges in India for Rural Management. One of the major recruiters in IRMA is Amul.

TAPMI is famous for Marketing and Finance. Diverse roles are offered across lot of companies to the students. Students get a plethora of opportunities here to develop themselves and get industry ready.

Which is better, IIM Sambalpur or IRMA Anand?

Samarth PrabhuLives in Sambalpur

Fortunately, I have close ties with alumni of both the institutes namely, IIM Sambalpur and IRMA Anand.

IIM Sambalpur is one of the youngest IIMs. In general, IMs offer programs like MBA or PGP in the following specializations; Marketing, Finance, Operation, and other domains. IRMA on the other hand is well-reputed for its strong program in PGDRM i.e. MBA in Rural Management.

Here are a few similarities between IIM Sambalpur and IRMA

  • Average Packages are almost similar. IIM Sambalpur's average package is around INR 16.64 LPA while IRMA Anand average package is INR 15.50 LPA
  • Fees are almost similar. IIM Sambalpur MBA fees is INR 5,40,000/Yr while IRMA Anand PGDM (Rural Management) fees are INR 16,15,452 Total Fees.

Here are a few differences between IRMA and IIM Sambalpur

  • Batch size in IRMA is almost double that of IIM Sambalpur.
  • IRMA provides specialization in Rural Management while IIM Sambalpur provides specialization in domains like Marketing, Operations, Finance, and more.

So, now coming to the main point, unless you are deeply interested in Rural Management, IIM Sambalpur seems to be the best option for you. The IIM tag will provide excellent opportunities and exposure and help you shape your career excellently. Despite being established in 1979, IRMA’s growth rate is not at the level of IIM Sambalpur that was established in 2015 and is already flourishing. So unless you are adamant about Rural Management, IIM Sambalpur is the best option.

How is MBA in Information Technology at IMI, Delhi? Is it preferable to IMT Ghaziabad for same program?

Aditi BanerjeeLives in Bangalore

Both are very good b-schools, but if you want to have a career in IT and Systems, I think you should join IMI Delhi. If you look, IMI has a good number of IT options that can be chosen as majors in the second year. You will also be one of only a few people who major in IT. Only 17% of the batch has a major in IT. Since the group is small, this could also give you an edge when recruiting. IMI has done a lot to make its name more known, and it also has one of the best ways of teaching in the country.

Capgemini, ADP, Axis Risk, Firstsource, Genpact, HCL Technologies, Infosys, Pitney Bowes, and Wiprio are some of the biggest IT companies that hire from IMI Delhi.

IMT Ghaziabad is best for marketing domain.

No matter which of these great institutions you join, your future will rest only on how hard you work.

I have been selected at Great Lakes, TAPMI, IRMA and IIT -BHU, KJ Somaiya (MBA - HCM). Which one should I take? I am totally confused.

Syed Yusuf Ashraf
Aditi BanerjeeLives in Bangalore

First of all, congratulations on your acceptances to these colleges. Great Lakes would be the best option for you if you’re interested in a one-year MBA program, especially in the IT domain, given the current COVID situation. If you’re interested in rural management instead, IIRMA is considered the best program for that specialization.

I would advise against choosing IIT-BHU and recommend KJ Somaiya only if you’re specifically interested in pursuing an MBA in HCM. TAPMI would be the best choice for someone looking for a general MBA program without a specific interest in any of the specialized areas mentioned above.

Which institute should I join: MICA, IRMA or XIMB?

Risha Sinha
Akash VermaPGDRM, PRM38 from Institute of Rural Management, Anand

While choosing between MICA, IRMA, and XIMB, it's important to keep in mind that these institutions are very different from each other. They have different missions, visions, and outcomes. While XIMB is a general management institute, MICA and IRMA are focused on their respective domains.

If you're someone who is primarily driven by CTC and ROI, then it's important to think twice before opting for these niche programs based on general parameters. You might end up in something that you might not enjoy.

IRMA is the pioneer of rural management, with the aim of bringing about a change in the rural sector of the country through professional management. As a participant in the program, you'll learn all the principles of general management, along with social and liberal arts subjects. One of the unique features of IRMA is their three internship segments, which provide a different perspective on rural realities and society through a different lens.

By choosing IRMA, you can expect to have a rewarding career afterwards. However, keep in mind that the program is geared towards those who have a genuine interest in rural management and development. It's important to do your research and self-reflection to see if this program is the right fit for you.

Which is the better option, IRMA or SCMHRD?

Sahil Sachdeva
Parag UpadhyayStudied at Institute of Rural Management, Anand

When choosing between different management programs, it is important to consider your interests and career aspirations. If you are interested in exploring the field of rural management, IRMA may be a great fit for you instead of SCMHRD. While IRMA does not offer a specific specialization, it does provide a range of electives that can help you develop skills and knowledge in areas that interest you.

One of the unique aspects of IRMA is its emphasis on rural management. The program is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities of managing organizations in rural areas. This includes exposure to issues such as agriculture, rural development, social entrepreneurship, and community development.

While IRMA does not offer a formal specialization in HR, the program does cover a wide range of topics related to human resource management. This includes courses on leadership, organizational behavior, and employee relations. Students can also choose electives in areas such as talent management, performance appraisal, and compensation.

Ultimately, the choice between different management programs will depend on your individual interests and goals. It is important to research and compare programs based on factors such as curriculum, faculty, industry connections, and career prospects. By choosing a program that aligns with your interests and provides the right skills and knowledge, you can set yourself up for a fulfilling and successful career.

Which institute should l join: MICA, IRMA, or XIMB?

Raktim Tarafdar
Akash BiswasPost Graduate Program from Institute of Rural Management, Anand (Graduated 2004)

All the institutes you mentioned are quite different from each other and have no similar goals, visions, or outcomes. XIMB is a General Management institute while MICA and IRMA focus solely on a specific domain.

The most common evaluating criteria of aspirants for a B School are its ROI and Placements. Choosing a specific niche program might limit your opportunities and choosing it mainly because of its general parameters like ROI and Parameters might prove wrong in the long run.

IRMA is well known for its specialization in rural management, and its primary goal is to bring about a change in the rural sector of the country through professional management. As a student, you will acquire knowledge of the principles of general management, and certain social and liberal arts subjects.

The main highlight of the institute is its three internship segments. Through this program, you will get to witness rural realities and society through a different lens, and pave your way to an excellent career.

Which has the best program for rural management, XIMB, IRMA, or the Indian Institute of Rural Management at Jaipur?

Vishal PatilStudied MBA in Human Resource Management at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (Graduated 2019)

IRMA seems to have it all - top faculty, great infrastructure, excellent campus, and extensive exposure. It is well known for its specialization in Rural Management and becomes the best choice when it comes to RM aspirants. Before I go on, let me clarify a much common misconception about the Rural Management and Development Sector. The assumptions that the pay in the Development sector is extremely low and IRMA provides no corporate exposure are outright false.

I know a friend who gave up a scholarship at another B School for Rural Management at IRMA. He made this decision despite knowing it will be more hectic because of the 3 field components unlike 1 in the case of other B Schools.

There is an additional social sector course like Rural Society and Polity for instance. The main purpose of these courses is to broaden your tour horizon as IRMA serves the majority of the Indian population living in villages, who have a different set of problems and require a different type of thinking to solve them.

IRMA has 2 camps - pro-market and pro-development that respect each other. Such harmony leads to a better understanding of both pros and cons, and students can initiate a response to an emerging economy.

This field required an emphatic and sensitive attitude with monetary benefits not being the primary goal. The earning capacity is not exactly poor and the placement figures reveal 100% opportunities. Additionally, IRMA’s Social Entrepreneurship Cell is a haven for future entrepreneurs.

IRMA boasts of a rich alumni culture because they take pride in being an IRMAn which was possible after multiple efforts and hard work. The alumni connection ensures constant motivation and advice shared based on real-life experiences.

Overall IRMA offers a roller coaster of experiences you won’t forget in your entire life.

I've got two options, TAPMI PGDM and IRMA PRM. What should I choose?

Alka SinghStudied at the Institute of Rural Management, Anand

When deciding on an MBA program, it's important to consider your interests and career goals. If you have an inclination towards rural management, then IRMA would be an excellent choice for you. On the other hand, if you're looking for a general MBA degree and specific profiles post-MBA, then TAPMI may be the better option.

If rural management is your area of interest, then IRMA should be at the top of your list. IRMA has a strong reputation for its rural management program and provides excellent opportunities for students interested in the field. On the other hand, if you're looking for a broader MBA degree and want to explore different profiles, then TAPMI may be a better fit.

When it comes to post-MBA profiles, TAPMI provides a variety of specializations to choose from, including finance, marketing, human resources, and operations. This means that you can choose a specialization that aligns with your interests and career goals. Additionally, TAPMI has a strong reputation in the industry and attracts many top recruiters, which can enhance your job opportunities post-MBA.

Ultimately, the decision between IRMA and TAPMI will depend on your individual interests and career aspirations. Make sure to research each program thoroughly and weigh the pros and cons of each before making a final decision.
