NLUJAA Assam Faculties : Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 11 Reviews

The faculty at the college is generally well-regarded for being disciplined and helpful, providing guidance in both academics and extracurricular activities such as moot competitions and research papers. The faculty-to-student ratio is favorable, and faculty members are accessible via email. Some faculty members are highly experienced, coming from prestigious institutions like NALSAR, St. Stephen's College, and the University of Delhi, and are involved in core committees like NAAC. However, there is a challenge in recruiting experienced faculty due to the college's location in northeastern India, resulting in a varied level of expertise among faculty members.

The faculty is involved in teaching problem-based exams, which is beneficial for law students. The BALLB course structure consists of two semesters per year, with a total of 100 marks divided between mid-semester (25 marks), end-semester exams (50 marks), and assignments (25 marks).

Student Snaps:

Faculty:

The faculty-to-student ratio is fairly balanced. Students mostly have reasonable access to professors both inside and outside the classroom. Also, professors are generally approachable and open to discussions and doubt clearance. Professors themselves also encourage discussions to connect every student in the class. One of the faculty members whom I liked was Professor Kasturi Gakul, who taught us Property Law in the 5th semester. She is really vocal and knowledgeable regarding her subject, which makes the study session really fun with her. Apart from her teaching style, I also liked her personality, and that is why I liked her. Other than this, every faculty member is good. One faculty member whom I did not like is Dr. Shailendra Kumar. He taught us CPC this semester, and he is knowledgeable, too. But the only problem with him is that he lacks the art of teaching students, and also, he is not so fluent in English, which makes his lecture boring for most of the students. We have a 6-month semester in our University, and in that 6-months, two exams take place. One is mid-semester, and one is end-of-semester. Mid- semester is for 25 marks, and end-semester is for 50 marks. Our exam pattern has been changed, and now we have problem based question, and the difficulty varies with the subject. So it depends on the subject. But mainly, it is medium to great difficulty only. I would say the course curriculum is not that relevant, and it needs to be decided more mindfully so that it can really serve the purpose.

Faculty:

faculty are so helpful they are friendly towards the students they are strick at the same time lenient. Students approach directly to them and always ready to slove students doubts . Political science major professor is smart and the way of his teaching is excellent, law professors are strict mainly the professor who tought BNSS . Exams are tough as they are problem based , usually teachers wont fail students if they able to attempt the questions properly . As each semester is of 6 months and students have to attempt 2 exams .

The faculty members here are from top institutes like NALSAR, St. Stephen's College,University of Delhi etc. Also some of the faculties are a part of core committees like NAAC. The exams here are based on problem based questions which is a fantabulous approach for law students to deal critical scenes.

Faculty of the college is something that is highly essential. Although, almost like every educational institution, there are professors who are brilliant in their fields and exceptionally well teachers. However, there are also some who you can't really understand or have a hard time coping with. Its a mixed bag.
