What is the course structure for BA Eng in IGNOU??

The course structure at IGNOU for BA English is very simple. You need to complete 48 credits in 3 years. This means 16 credits should be completed every year. Every subject is allotted a specific course for example BEGE101, BEGE102, BEGE103, BEGE104, BEGE105, BEGE106, BEGE107 and BEGE108.

I am planning to enroll in a BA English course in IGNOU. What is the procedure of the whole course and important things that I should follow?

Opt for this course only if you are into novels and literature. Otherwise, it will be a monotonous ride. If you are planning to pursue BA English at IGNOU, you can conveniently work full time alongside. Instead of attending full-time classes, just sitting for a few will do it. Get your study material and go through it regularly. Don’t forget to apply for term-end exams. Exam applications come around March for the July exams. You must also submit your assignment at the study centre before the last date. The questions for the assignment can be found on the IGNOU website as well as the study centre. Before the 2nd and 3rd years consult your study centre and choose your desired course and register for it. Lastly, keep in constant touch with your study centre for regular updates.

IGNOU BAEGH Admission 2026

IGNOU conducts admissions for the BAEGH programme twice a year - in the January session (admissions open November-February/March) and the July session (admissions open May-August). The admission process is entirely online through the IGNOU Samarth Admission Portal. There is no entrance exam; admission is granted based on eligibility. The January 2026 session is currently open with the last date extended to 30th March 2026.

No entrance exam is required for IGNOU BAEGH admission. Admission is open to all eligible candidates on a merit-neutral basis.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent from a recognised board.
No specific subject requirement at 10+2 level; the programme is open to students from any stream.
There is no minimum percentage requirement and no age bar.

Admission Process

Visit the IGNOU Admission Portal at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in and click on New Registration.
Create a username and password, then log in and select the BAEGH programme.
Fill in personal and academic details, and upload scanned copies of photograph, signature, 10th and 12th marksheets, and category certificate (if applicable).
Pay the programme fee and registration fee online via Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking.
Download and save the application form and payment receipt for future reference.
Await confirmation of admission via email/SMS; check status on the admission portal.

Ques. I am from a Hindi medium background. Can I study IGNOU BAEGH (BA Hons. English)?

Ans. Each course in BAEGH has a Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) that contributes 30% to the final grade, while the Term-End Examination (TEE) contributes 70%. Students must score at least 40% in both the TMA and TEE separately to pass a course. The overall CGPA is calculated on a 10-point scale. Students who fail a course can re-appear in the next TEE without repeating the entire year.

Affordable fees and wide course selection

I am pursuing BA English (Honours) from IGNOU. The fee structure is quite affordable and consistent throughout the course. The total duration of the program is 3 years. The fee per year is ?4,000, which brings the total course fee to ?12,000. There are no hidden charges like development fees or lab fees since this is a distance learning program. Admission fee is included in the yearly fee. There is a registration fee of ?300 during the first year only, which means the total fee for the first year is ?4,300. Students from reserved categories such as SC/ST can apply for fee reimbursement under various state and central government schemes. IGNOU also provides financial aid options for economically weaker sections, and scholarships like “IGNOU-Scholarship for SC/ST students” are available depending on eligibility. The fee has remained the same over the years and hasn’t increased as of now. Compared to regular universities, IGNOU offers a much more economical education, especially for working students or those who cannot attend regular college. From the affordability point of view, I would rate this course 5 stars as it provides good academic value at a minimal cost.

The importance of College Life

There wasn't much things to dislike about the institute but yes if anything would be improved, they should help students to cope up with assignment submission details and reduce fee structure for needy students.

The yearly fee which I was paying for my course was nearly about 7000 but it kept increasing after every year. There was also assignment fee of around 1000 and also examination fee was around 300 per subject which was about 2400 in total per year. I didn't had any scholarship or other financial aid because there wasn't much scope for that.

This college have most positive things but i dislike fees structure for regular going students.

First of all i say that i am study in this college through ignou open university so the fees of this college in ignou is 15000 approx in per course. The development fees is 200 , registration fees is 500 and program fee is 5000 . So the fees structure of this college through ignou open university is good.

Ignou and its boring experience

I paid 8000 last year and now i have to pay 16000 in 2 years. 8000 per year and i dont have any benefits regarding caste. I dont have any friends in my batch so don't know about their fee structure. No financial aid given by university.
