Remarks

I chose JMI because it is India's top Central University. Additionally, it is located in the national capital. JMI has a great reputation in academic circles and is well known for the massive opportunities it provides to its students. Also, JMI follows an entrance exam, unlike the merit-based admission process which I felt gives JMI an edge over others. JMI conducts it's own entrance examination. Due to covid, our exam was held in November. The results came out subsequently and the admission procedure took place in the campus itself from 1-3 Dec 2020. The classes started from 15th December One can find all the information regarding admission and other related stuff on The Jamia Review's website. They have a dedicated admissions section. Past year papers can be found as well. Preparation of the entrance exam is moderately required. Questions too are not very difficult.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose this course as I always had a keen interest in Economics. I want to further pursue Economics in master's as well. The curriculum is quite rigorous and well structured. The ones opting for Economics Hons in JMI and who want to pursue Economics further must choose mathematics as their subsidiary subject. JMI also provides choice-based subjects wherein one is free to choose any subject from all the departments of the university. The professors in JMI are very well qualified and dedicated. Exams were conducted in the Open Book mode due to covid

Placement Experience

1.5

Generally, undergraduate students of Economics don't opt for placements. The placement cell is active for the master's degree and is doing a decent job. Some students do go for off-campus placement. Jobs available are very limited immediately after UG.

Fees and Financial Aid

The annual fees stand at Rs 7,200. This includes the tuition fees, examination fees, library charges and other related costs. The cost of accommodation is not included. That has to be managed by the students themselves. Multiple scholarships are available that one can apply for given the fact that he/she fulfills the criteria.

Campus Life

3.5

Well, we haven't been to the university yet due to covid but our seniors tell us that JMI campus is extremely vibrant and lively. The library is incredibly huge and amazing. We have received credentials for online access of the library as well. The classrooms are decent. Pretty nice infrastructure for sports. Many societies and other global organizations are very active. Enactus, The Jamia Review, 180DC, CDF are some of them.

Hostel Facilities

4

Since we haven't gone to the campus so we are not aware of the latest prices. The last known hostel fees was 30,000. The application form needs to be filled and a personal interview too might take place. The culture of the same is very diverse

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

The course offers many things for students interms of their further academic pursuits or any placement they are looking for. Talking about the areas of improvement and teaching methods there are none. The exams of the respective subject are to happen. They take test 1 , test 2 and there is final exams.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
