It is an autonomous institute whoch comes under Ministry of culture, government of India. It was established in 1989. It is located within the museum premises of National museum, Janpath, New delhi. This is a prime location.
I got admission in this institute on basis of merit obtained in my graduation . Students from a recognised university with good academic record can get admission. The eligibility criteria is 50 % in graduation. Students with background in Social sciences, Fine arts or Liberal arts are also given preferences.
The admission in this institute is based on written test which is followed by interview. The duration of the written test is 1 hour. The interviews are conducted by a joint selection committee of all courses. After getting the application, candidates will be shortlisted and called for written test/interview by Head of the department.
India is having only one institute awarding masters degree perticularly in Art conservation as per best of my knowledge. And they people are maintaining the name of their esteemed is institute throughout years is something unique.
