NITK M.Tech (Power and Energy System Engineering) Fees
The M.Tech (Power and Energy System Engineering) programme at NITK Surathkal is available under two fee categories: the regular (GATE scholarship) category with a significantly subsidised tuition fee of Rs. 35,000 per semester, and the self-financed category with a tuition fee of Rs. 2,00,000 per semester. For GATE scholarship students, the total programme fee (day scholar) works out to approximately Rs. 2.12 lakh over 2 years, while self-financed students pay approximately Rs. 8.71 lakh. Hostel accommodation is optional and available at an additional cost.

- Security Deposit of Rs. 6,700 is refundable at the time of leaving the institute.
- Part A fees (Admission Fee, Security Deposit, Alma Mater Contribution, Convocation Fee) are one-time fees paid at the time of admission and increase at 5% every year for each new batch.
- Part B fees (Library, Career Development, Health Care, etc.) increase at 5% every year for all batches.
- SC/ST/PwD students are exempted from payment of Tuition Fee (not applicable to QIP, DASA, ICCR, MEA, External Registrants, and Internal Registrants).
- Hostel accommodation is not mandatory; hostel fees are additional and not included in the Total Fees row above.
- Mess fees are provisional and subject to revision; first semester mess fee is approximately Rs. 35,310 (includes admission fee Rs. 1,000, establishment charges Rs. 8,100, maintenance Rs. 3,690, student extra-curricular Rs. 520, and mess advance Rs. 22,000).
- GATE scholarship holders receive Rs. 12,400 per month for up to 24 months, which effectively offsets a significant portion of the fees.
- Self-financed students are not entitled to any Institute scholarship or stipend.
