Ans. The organisational set up for research consists of one Lead Centre supported by other research stations for each agro-climatic zone, viz., Cauvery Delta Zone, North-Eastern Zone, North-Western Zone, Western Zone, Southern Zone, High Rainfall Zone and Hilly & Tribal Zone. The goal of TNAU is to serve the state’s farming community to uplift their economic conditions mainly by evolving varieties/hybrids and management practices. With the above aim, TNAU undertakes need-based research besides venturing into futuristic research by foreseeing the requirements of the State. TNAU is also keen on adapting technologies from other institutes by fine-tuning them to suit the needs of the State.

Ans. The NCC Unit of Agricultural College & Research Institute of TNAU, Coimbatore, consists of 104 cadets, comprising first, second and third year NCC cadets in various degree programs. The NCC cadets are having stipulated training activities, social service activities each year at the institute level, and they are also attending various camps at the state and national level. They also attend university functions like Independence Day functions and Republic Day celebrations, Guard of honour to the Excellency of the Governor of Tamilnadu etc. The NCC day was celebrated by performing various activities like a cycle rally regarding climate change, a cleanliness drive, and also cleaning the NCC parade ground.

Ans. Placement Cell at Centre for Students Welfare, TNAU serves as a platform between the students of TNAU and a plethora of industries. The placement cell honours the employability skills of the students through various career development activities. The cell guides them in selecting their career path by providing various resources and activities to facilitate the career planning process. The cell helps in conducting Campus Interviews throughout the year in relation to employers’ indent. About 60 companies participate annually in Campus Placement activities. The Job Fair is conducted coinciding with the closure of academic programmes.
