VU B.Tech CSE FAQs
Ques. Is Vishwakarma University (VU) Pune the same as Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) Pune?
Ans. No, VU (Vishwakarma University) and VIT (Vishwakarma Institute of Technology) are different institutions, though both are part of the Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust (BRACT). VIT is an autonomous institute affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, while VU is a full-fledged private university established under the Maharashtra Universities Act. The degree awarded by VU is a university degree, whereas VIT awards a Pune University-affiliated degree. Students often confuse the two due to the similar name and trust.
Ques. Does VU Pune accept MHT-CET scores for B.Tech CSE admission, or is VUNET mandatory?
Ans. VU Pune accepts both MHT-CET and JEE Main scores for B.Tech admissions. VUNET (VU's own entrance test) is an additional option but not mandatory. Students who have valid MHT-CET or JEE Main scores can directly apply for provisional admission. However, for government quota seats, the MHT-CET-based CAP (Centralised Admission Process) conducted by the Maharashtra government applies.
Ques. What is the IBM-ICE programme at VU Pune, and how does it benefit CSE students?
Ans. The IBM-ICE (IBM Academic Initiative) programme is a collaboration between Vishwakarma University and IBM. Under this programme, CSE students get access to IBM-certified courses in areas like cybersecurity, business analytics, cloud computing, and AI, which are integrated into the curriculum. Students can earn IBM certifications as part of their degree, which adds significant value to their resume and improves employability in the IT sector.
Ques. What is the hostel situation at VU Pune for B.Tech CSE students?
Ans. VU Pune offers separate hostel facilities for boys and girls on a first-come, first-served basis. Hostel charges range from Rs. 1,25,000 to Rs. 1,45,000 per year depending on the seat type, and this includes mess (breakfast and dinner) and a refundable deposit of Rs. 5,000. Laundry is charged separately. Students are advised to apply for hostel early as seats are limited.
Ques. What are the placement prospects for B.Tech CSE graduates from VU Pune?
Ans. B.Tech CSE is one of the strongest branches for placements at VU Pune. The university has 700+ recruiters visiting campus, with companies like Amazon, TCS, Wipro, Accenture, IBM, Persistent, JP Morgan, Snowflake, and Tech Mahindra among the top hirers. The average salary reported is around Rs. 5.5 LPA, with the highest package going up to Rs. 17.75 LPA. Ques. Can I get admission to B.Tech CSE at VU Pune through management quota, and what is the fee?
Ans. Yes, VU Pune offers institute-level (management quota) seats for B.Tech CSE. The admission process for management quota seats involves directly applying to the university, paying the application fee, and securing provisional admission without going through the MHT-CET CAP rounds. The fees for management quota seats are the same as the regular programme fees, i.e., Rs. 15,60,000 total tuition for the 2026-27 batch. There is no separate higher fee for management quota at VU (unlike some other private colleges). Contact the admissions office at admissions@vupune.ac.in or call +91 9590300911 for details.
