Dr. K. T. Gopi is a management educationist with a strong academic and professional background. He has a Ph.D. in Management and is a qualified UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lectureship in Management. Dr. Gopi has extensive experience in teaching at various levels and specializing in Accounting and Finance.
He has held positions such as Director, Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor in prestigious institutions like Allum Karibasappa Institute of Management, PES Institute of Technology and Management, Jain University, and V.V. Sangha's Rao Bahadur Y Mahabaleshwarappa Engineering College. He has trained students in areas such as Accounting, Financial Management, Project Appraisal, and Business Policy. Dr. Gopi has a track record of ensuring student success and maintains high standards of achievement and discipline.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
I started my career as an assistant professor at V.V. Sangha’s Allum Karibasappa Institute of Management, and I have been promoted as Coordinator for the Department of Management studies at V.V. Sangha’s Rao Bahadur Y Mahabaleshwarappa Engineering College, Bellary.
Later I worked as Assistant Professor at School of Commerce and Management Studies of Jain University, and after completion of my Ph.D I worked as Associate Professor at PES Institute of Technology and Management, Shivamogga. After completing 20 year service in the academics since 2017 I am working as a director and professor at Allum Karibasappa Institute of Management, Ballari.
I am very passionate about this profession because we can help our students to lead successful career life. The teaching profession helps to groom and nurture students and make them successful in their life.
Being the Director of AKIM College, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
I strongly believe in the quote “The Price of the Freedom is Always an a Responsibility”. If you trust and ensure freedom to colleagues they will come with better performance in the assigned works. We should not interfere too much in works assigned and make them realize that the institution is bigger than individual.
I am an effective communicator with excellent planning, organizational, and negotiation strengths, as well as the ability to lead, reach consensus, establish goals, and attain results. I am keen on taking up a position that will effectively utilize my experience, knowledge, and skills to assist business school in achieving its goals. To this end, I am furnishing below the details of my candidacy.
How does the curriculum of AKIM College ensure the best practice of industry?
Our institution is affiliated to the Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University is a State University the curriculum of our MBA course is designed by the university. In order to expose our students to industry environment in addition to the curriculum, we regularly invite industry experts to delivery their thoughts to our students.
We have MOUs with many training institutions they train our students regularly on the industry-specific needs. The training sessions helps a lot to configure our students for industry specifics.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?
Allum Karibasappa Institute of Management (AKIM) was set up in 1998 under the aegis of Veerashaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha, Ballari. The institution is recognized by the Government of Karnataka and approved by AICTE, New Delhi; in addition, AKIM is the only institute in Ballari to attain ISO 9001-2015 Certification. The college is affiliated with VIJAYANAGARA SRI KRISHNADEVARAYA UNIVERSITY, BALLARI.
In 1998, AKIM ventured into shaping and training bright, young minds in high-quality management education to meet the managerial leadership needs of the country in a fast-changing environment. This was offered as a two-year full-time program, MASTER IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA), in Ballari, with a mission to: foster critical analysis and equip them with skills needed for facing global challenges with teamwork, human values, and cultural ethics.

AKIM has a diligent faculty team with full-on hands-on experience both in industry and academia. Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?
In the beginning of the course we conduct the orientation programme for the students it will help them to align with the curricular and co-students. In the orientation programme we get experts from corporate, entrepreneurs, healthcare, academicians and alumni’s to build confidence among new students and make them comfortable in the institution.
So when you first came to AKM College, what was your vision for the university, as well as What do you think should be the University's top priority over the next 10 years?
We always work to provide the quality management education and ensure quality placements. Our team works with a great commitment and determination to uplift our institution to next level of management education. We always work to build a strong brand of our institution in the industry.
I hope we can contribute to the intellectual life and debate of an academic organization by conducting research, which will enhance its reputation as a research-led teaching institution.
Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?
What I observed in the younger generation is that they access to lot information with help of internet but they have a lost interest in reading subject books. Even I have noticed that they are not focused and they are not sure with what they are doing. Hence I suggest them to read the subject books and they should work in line with their vision.
