Dr. D. Venkata Ramana is the Head of the Department of ECE at Vignan Institute of Engineering for Women. He holds a B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication along with an M.Tech. in VLSI System Design. Thereafter, he went on to earn a PhD from Andhra University. Before his role at the Vignan Institute of Engineering for Women, he worked at the Thandra Paparaya Institute of Science and Technology and at GMR Institute of Technology.

Dr. Ramana also works as an NBA coordinator, NAAC coordinator and a full semester internship coordinator. He has published over 14 papers in reputed international and national journals. He has also presented and published six papers at international conferences and two papers at national conferences. Dr. Venkata has participated in and organised over 28 faculty development programs. For his efforts, he has received the Best Faculty Award from GMRIT for the academic year 2008-2009 and 2013 -2014.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

I believe that education is the key to unlocking human potential and empowering individuals to achieve their dreams. It is incredibly rewarding to see my students grow and develop as they gain new knowledge and skills. The education sector is constantly evolving, with new technologies, pedagogical approaches, and societal trends emerging all the time. This keeps me on my toes and intellectually stimulated as I strive to stay up-to-date and provide my students with the best possible learning experiences.


Being the HOD of Vignan Institute of Engineering for Women what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

As the HOD of Vignan's Institute of Engineering for Women, I believe in a leadership philosophy that is centered on empowerment, collaboration, and innovation. I strive to create an environment where students, faculty, and staff feel valued, respected, and supported in their endeavours. I believe that my leadership philosophy has been successful in creating a positive and productive environment at Vignan's Institute of Engineering for Women. I am proud of the accomplishments of our students, faculty, and staff, and I am committed to continuing to lead the institution forward.


The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

I believe that Vignan's Institute of Engineering for Women is an excellent choice for inbound students who are looking for a high-quality education, a diverse and supportive learning environment, and the opportunity to experience Indian culture. We have students from across India who bring their own flavour in terms of culture, personalities and more. We also concentrate more on theoretical knowledge, which is not the case in international institutes. Vignan is trying to change this actively by concentrating more on internships and lab work.


How does the curriculum of Vignan Institute of Engineering for Women ensure the best practice of industry?

VIEW ensures that its curriculum is always relevant and covers recent topics. We make sure to keep it dynamic and have it aligned with the best practices of the industry.
