Dr. P. Vijaya Bharati is the Head of the CSE department at Vignan’s Institute Of Engineering for Women. She has done a Ph.D. in CSE from GITAM. She has over 17 years of teaching experience. She has published research papers in international journals and conferences. She has been an active member of various organizations including ACM, IEI, IAENG, and ISTD. She has received the “Sasthra Award” for her research contribution and “Vishista Seva Award” for completing 10 years of service from Vignan’s Institute of Engineering for Women management for completing ten years of service to the college for the year 2021-22.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

Connecting with the education sector can be highly rewarding and impactful as a professor and HOD various factors helped me to establish and maintain meaningful connections in the education sector: Passion for Education, Knowledge and Expertise, Networking, Communication Skills, Adaptability, Empathy and Understanding, Collaboration, Advocacy, Innovation, Leadership, Cultural Sensitivity Decision-Making, Patience, and Persistence.

Being the HOD of the Vignan Institute of Engineering for Women, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

My leadership philosophy is simple. Two things are necessary when it comes to being a capable leader. Being charismatic and being responsible. Why? Because the purpose of a leader is to lead a group of people to achieve an intended goal. If you do not have the charisma to inspire people to follow you, you will be leading anyone. And if you’re not responsible enough to lead everyone to achieve the intended goal, there wouldn’t be any point in leading people to begin with.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

Students get the opportunity to learn about many cultures, languages, cuisines, and festivals in addition to their regular studies in Indian education than foreign education they are arts, science, or engineering college students. A student studying at our institute gains in-depth knowledge, employability, and life skills, and it provides full security to the students and is very cost-effective.

How does the curriculum of the Vignan Institute of Engineering for Women ensure the best practice of industry?

An advanced integrated approach in teaching and learning allows the student to explore, gather, process, refine, and present information about topics they want to learn without the constraints imposed by traditional subject barriers. The institution is very concerned with field visits, expert speeches, presentations, project works, interactive classes, and professional training of the students.

What do you see as your institute’s greatest strengths?

Our institute’s strengths include our well-trained, experienced, dedicated, and energetic teaching faculty, supportive non-teaching and laboratory staff, excellent and well-maintained infrastructure, good teaching and learning environment supported by the well-established library, ICT Classrooms, and well-equipped laboratories, excellent results at university examinations, faculty with research projects, publications in research journals like Scopus, and Web of Science, excellent Student-Teacher relation with emphasis on mentoring. Our college has excellent extra-curricular activities, sports culture, well-organized extension, community service programs, and outreach activities by students and faculty.

What would you like people to know about your college they may not know?

VIEW is one of the best women's engineering colleges in Visakhapatnam. This is useful in not only academia but also in the industry for developing problem-solving skills. Here, students are more socially competent, the uniform is mandatory except on Saturdays, and there are very good opportunities for everyone.

Any message you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

If you put in a lot of effort and stand out, there are some very exclusive opportunities waiting for you.
