NEET Physics Paper Pattern 2025
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has made official declarations about the major changes in the examination pattern and duration of NEET (UG) 2025, it has returned to its pre-COVID format. The clarification was issued on January 25, 2025.
- The question paper will comprise 180 compulsory questions and there will be no optional questions under Section B, a format adopted temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Both Physics and Chemistry shall be allocated 45 questions, while Biology will contain 90 questions, as distributed.
- These shall be a timed examination and candidates are to complete the examination in strict 180 minutes or 3 hours.
This again signifies the adopted standardized structure by omitting extra time and flexibility implemented during the pandemic period. With the new format, aspirants need to concentrate on adequate preparation to make full use of the important sections.

Is kinematics important for the NEET UG exam 2025?
Kinematics is an important topic for the NEET UG exam. It consists mainly of one-dimensional and two-dimensional motion, and question papers are formed from their applications.
Kinematics includes objects' motion in the form of displacement, velocity, acceleration, and equations of motion. Some of them are:
- Projectile Motion: Determining the path, range, maximum height, and time of flight of a projectile fired at an angle.
- Uniform Circular Motion: Determining expressions for centripetal acceleration, tangential velocity, and total acceleration in circular motion.
- Relative Motion: Determining the motion of two objects by reversing the frame of reference and determining their displacement and relative velocity.
Which is the hardest topic in the NEET UG exam?
According to trends, the Physics section of NEET UG is said to be the most challenging among other sections, the Maths sections will be of moderate difficulty level and the Chemistry sections will be easy-moderate.
| Subject | Topic | Difficulty Level (Subjective) | Reported Difficulty (% of Candidates |
| Physics | Rotational Motion | High | 65 % |
| Physics | Electromagnetics | High High | 60 % |
| Chemistry | Organic Mechanisms | High | 70 % |
| Chemistry | Physical Chemistry (Equilibrium/ Numericals) | High | 68 % |
| Mathematics | 3D Geometry | High | 55 % |
| Mathematics | Integration | High | 50 % |
Was NEET UG 2024 Easier Than 2023?
Here is a brief comparison of two years:
- NEET UG 2023: The exam was perceived as moderately challenging, with Chemistry being notably tough, while Biology was relatively easier but lengthy.
- NEET UG 2024: Students and experts rated the exam as moderate in difficulty. Physics was considered the most challenging section, whereas Biology remained the easiest.
