NEET 2021 Result, Scorecard, Merit List, Percentile, Ranks and Cut off

NEET 2021 Result will be released one month after the conclusion of the exam. Candidates will be able to check their results online at the official website. Students need to enter their ID and Password to check the result. 

• The online scorecard shows the marks scored by the candidate in each subject and the rank secured in different contexts like All India quota rank, NEET All India Rank, category rank etc.
• Score in every subject and percentile will be mentioned in the online scorecard.
• The rank of the candidate is totally dependent upon the marks scored in each paper.

Candidates who will qualify the NEET 2021 will become eligible to get admission in the MBBS, BDS and AYUSH courses all over India. 

NEET 2021 Score and Rank Calculation

Candidates can predict their score and rank by analysing the answer key.

• For every correct answer 4 marks will be awarded and 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
• No deductions will be made on unanswered questions.
• There are a total 180 questions and every question carries 4 marks. The entire paper is of 720 marks.

NEET Score=(Total number of correct answers x 4) – (Total number of incorrect answers x 1)

NEET 2021 Rank V/s Marks Analysis

After publishing the result NEET 2021 releases a merit list for the candidates on the basis of rank and overall score and percentile. The rank can be predicted by the candidate after analysing the answer key. The expected rank and marks analysis are tabulated below:

NEET 2021 Percentile

The minimum percentile required to qualify NEET is 50(for general category) and 40(for reserved category). Candidates of PwD(General) category are required to secure 45 percentile to qualify NEET. Percentile is calculated on the basis of rank secured by the candidate in comparison to the rank secured by all the other candidates. The upper limit is determined by the top scorer candidate in the All-India Merit list. If a considerable number of students failed to secure the minimum fixed percentile then the cut off falls to some points on the direction of MCC.

How to check the result for NEET 2021 online:

To check the result for NEET exam online the candidates are supposed to follow the mentioned steps:

Step 1: Visit the official website of NTA

Step 2: Click on ‘View Result/scorecard’

Step 3: Enter NEET Application number and password or date of birth and enter the security number(as shown in the image sample)

Step 4: Click on submit button(as shown in the image)

Step 5: The result will be displayed on the window in the format shown in the image below

NEET 2021 Merit List

NEET 2021 Merit List will be prepared by MCI soon after the declaration of the result. 

• 15% AIQ merit list will be prepared by MCI.
• 85% State Quota merit list will be prepared by the respective states depending on the candidates who will apply for the state counselling. 
• Merit list for AIQ will be prepared based on candidate’s AIR and NEET 2021 Reservation Policy.
• The merit list for NEET 2021 will be released on its official website. 
• Candidates can check the official website as well as the websites for all NEET Participating Institutes regularly to check the counselling dates. 

Tie Breaker Rule work in NEET 2021

NEET 2021 tie-breaking method is mentioned below.

• Candidates with higher marks secured in Biology will be preferred over other candidates with the same marks. 
• If the above method does not work then candidates with higher marks in chemistry will be preferred. 
• If these methods or rules do not work then the 3^rd method is used. In this method, candidates with the fewer wrong answers will be considered over other candidates. 
• The last method used to break the tie is to consider age factor in which candidate older in age will be preferred for merit ranking.

NEET 2021 Cut-Off

The cut-off marks is calculated after considering the number of students appeared, the difficulty level of the question and the marks scored by the candidates. The students who secure the cut off marks or above will be considered as a qualified candidate. Expected cut off for different categories are tabulated below:

NEET 2021 Answer Key

The candidates can tally their answers with the help of the answer key released by the NTA a week after the examination. The NTA releases OMR along with the answer key for the candidates by which the candidate can easily predict their rank.

• The answer key is released on the official website of NTA

• The candidates can predict their rank by the answer key.

• If a candidate finds any contradiction in the answer key the S/he can make a claim against that answer.

• The claims can be made online by paying an amount of 1000 INR.

• The fee is refundable if the claim is accepted by the authority.

Steps to generate claim against the answer key:

To claim any answer in the answer key the candidates are required to follow the steps mentioned below:

• Login on the official website of NTA

• click on the ‘challenge answer key’ button

• Select the question for which you are claiming contradiction

• Mark the answer which is right according to you.

• Justify your answer

• Click the ‘confirm’ button and pay the required amount

• Keep a copy of the acknowledgement receipt for future reference

NEET 2021 Counselling

The Medical Counselling Committee is responsible for NEET counselling and allotment of seats under All-India quota of 15%. The remaining 85% seats fall under the state quota and the counselling for such seats will be conducted separately by the state authority. Allocation of seats is subject to the performance of the candidate, preferences and availability of seats in the colleges. The counselling process will start by the last week of June,’21The documents that are required for the counselling process are listed below:

• NEET Admit Card

• Proof for date of birth

• Eight passport size photographs(same as uploaded earlier)

• Proof of seat acceptance(Seat allotment letter)

• Undertaking by the candidate
