Ans. Frankly speaking, both Electronics and Instrumentation and CSE are equally good branches that open up ample opportunities in the future. Let us have a brief comparison of the NIT Silchar, E&I, and TEZU. Infrastructure – TEZU is leading in terms of the best infrastructure and well-equipped lab facilities, especially in the CSE branch. Faculty – TEZU is gifted with more highly qualified and experienced faculties than others. Placement – NITs and TEZU have had a good record of placement in recent years. Research – CSE has an active and advanced research environment at TEZU. Other than the qualities of the institute, your initial preference should be given to your interest in the core subject.Read more

Ans. Before choosing an institute, think about what your requirements are. Here are some points that might help you make a decision. If your aim is a job in a corporate sector then the NITs will definitely be better options. Opt for either NIT Meghalaya or Nagaland.  Do not compare their placements with older NITs as it could prove disappointing. Tezpur University (TU) is also known to provide good placement opportunities but it is more concentrated to only the CSE department.  You may get placements from a few IT companies, but overall placements are concerned NITs are definitely better than TU. Students who are interested in learning and exploring research fields can opt for TU as well.  Tezpur University has very good faculty strength in ECE & CSE.  The two departments are much older too.  The CSE faculty and labs of TU are better than NIT Silchar.  TU has got a good research environment as there are multiple departments of Science and Engineering, which is not the case of the mentioned NITs. Therefore it is suggested that if you aim for an immediate job opportunity, go for NITs. For students who feel confident that they can get a job off campus or are more inclined towards academics and research can go for TU.Read more

Ans. It is better to go for B.Tech at Tezpur University (TU) than Assam Engineering College (AEC). Following are the reasons for the same: TU has great faculty and infrastructure, and you will get a lot of exposure.  The only drawback is the lack of placements. Being a new institution very few companies visit the college. AEC on the other hand, is very old, and has a strong alumni network.  Placement is better at AEC compared to TU, but still it keeps fluctuating which makes students unsure. Categories B.Tech at AEC B.Tech at TU Course Fee INR 44,000 1.76 lakh Placement Percentage 80% 50% Highest CTC 17 LPA 14 LPA Average CTC 6 LPA 3.5 LPA Recruiting Companies Capgemini, IBM, Wipro, Reliance, etc. SAP Labs, Amazon, Intel, Dabur, etc. If your aim is to get a job right after your graduation, then you should join AEC. But if you are interested more in research and exposure and want to opt for higher studies, TU will be a better option.Read more

Ans. I have friends from both Tezpur University and SLIET Sangrur. Based on the conversations I had with them, I will say for CSE TU is far better.  The CSE department of Tezpur University has a great faculty base. It is definitely better than SLIET. The university focuses on practical approaches rather than theoretical knowledge. Apart from this, it provides an amazing opportunity for students to work with the Government of India-funded projects.  The placements at TU are any day better than SLIET. According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered was between 3.5 LPA-10 LPA.  So, TU is better than SLIET in all respects. It is in fact the best option to do CSE after IIT-G.Read more

Ans. Tezpur University is a great option for CSE. In North-East India, it can be ranked right after IITG. Here are some highlights of the institute.  There are excellent faculty members for CSE. Mostly graduates from top institutes and some have foreign education. They are involved in research that gives an opportunity to all the students to move ahead in research.  Also, it is a research-focused department where research happens at a large scale and on different topics. This prepares students for the master's degree with the complete knowledge of their undergraduate degree along with hands-on experience.  Due to the excellence in studies for B.Tech the alumni are spread all over the world working in elite companies and are very prestigious professionals.  The placements are decent. Many companies like TCS, Amazon, Airtel and many others usually come for recruiting students.  Tezpur University is one of the best universities for B.Tech CSE.
