Ans. Here is some information to assist you in choice-making- Snapdeal, Amazon, Google, etc. visit IIEST Shibpur and offer equal placement opportunities to both IT and CSE students. My roommate from IT got into Snapdeal through campus placement.  IEM isn’t a well-known college. It is a local college unlike IIEST, which is an institute of national importance. The campus size of IEM is very small. Big companies don’t usually visit small colleges like IEM.  The college tag has a value of its own. Besides, the opportunities and exposure offered by IIEST are immense.  Thus, I would recommend you opt for IT at IIEST Shibpur. Read more

Ques. Should I take CSE in KIIT or IEM, Kolkata?

Ans. I have a friend who scored a rank of 1536 in KIITEE and chose CSE in KIIT while another who got a rank of 4158 in WBJEE and went got IEM ECE. What I mean is that the institute does not matter but it’s your capability and skills that determine your success rate. I find judging colleges based on placements very silly.  So, if your ultimate goal is BTech only then take any one between IEM and KIIT depending on your financial background but if you are planning to pursue higher education, IEM will help you save money that can later be used for higher studies. Read more

Ans. The placement scenario for IEM CSE can be evaluated on the basis of placement percentage and average or median salary. IEM Kolkata maintains a good placement record over the years and every year many students get placed through its efficient placement drive. IES placements 2021 statistics are mentioned IMT in the table below Total graduating students 1016 Number of students placed 813 Number of students opted out 91 Median salary INR 10.50 LPA The faculty is a mixed pool, some extremely good while some very inefficient. Most students prefer self-studying or seeking help from seniors rather than approaching professors. The fees are a bit higher than government colleges like MAKAUT Main, Ceramic Tech, Kalyani Govt, etc. IEM first-year fees for the BTech program are ?1.78 Lakhs. The high fees do not translate to high-paying jobs here so the ROI will be very low.  Some other minor flaws are the lack of greenery and the uniform compulsion.  Here, everything depends on your skills and dedication. So adopt a positive mindset, and study well so that you can clear entrances like GATE, GRE, CAT, or GMAT. You cannot be solely dependent on college for shaping your career!Read more

Ans. IEM Kolkata is a reputed technical college in the region. But given a choice, you should take Civil/IT at Jadavpur University. JU ranks among the top engineering colleges in the country. It is well ahead of IEM, in terms of placement and opportunities.  Many core companies visit JU to recruit Civil Engineering students. The IT placement is excellent. Companies such as Microsoft, Google, etc. take part in Jadavpur University placements. During the 2022 placement drive, Facebook offered the highest CTC of INR 1.8 Crore per annum. Ans. In my opinion, IMS Ghaziabad is a much better option than PSIT Kanpur mainly because of its NCR location. When choosing a college, a factor of utmost importance is where the college is situated because your location will impact your college life largely. Opting for a college situated in NCR is a boon as it will give you a lot of exposure to activities and education in general. You get more exposure to industries and startups and thus getting internships is a lot easier. One more advantage is that you can avail many good coaching facilities in the NCR location which may not be possible in a city like Kanpur.  The campus life is less strict at IMS Ghaziabad than at PSIT and there are no strict attendance rules. The fees and value of a degree are almost similar in both colleges but you can enjoy your life much better at NCR colleges. I am strongly against you joining PSIT Kanpur because Not a good location Unnecessary struck rules related to attendance  You have to be stuck 9-5 completing unnecessary assignments which have no real importance  Not a good college to enjoy life and hang out No coding culture in PSIT  Despite it all, PSIT Kanpur has a 100% placement percentage and will help you get places in CS. Ans. If you have a GATE Scorecard, you will be able to secure a place on the PSIT for mechanical engineering. This is because of the availability of the one Interview Round. But try applying online or calling them for any opening if you are a graduate. They will inform you and organize an interview if they find you relevant. Whether you will be appointed as a faculty or laboratory assistant according to your qualification. You will continue to work for approximately 2 years as Lab Assistant. In terms of actual placement at the campus, top recruitment firms like Infosys, Capgemini, TCS, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro visit the campus. Students are given leading jobs such as assistant system engineer, software developer, and business analyst. The top salary package provided is 26 LPA and the lowest pay package is 3 LPA. The average package available is 3.6 LPA. In order to better understand the concept, PSIT offers E-classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and training. Ans. Mechanical engineering is not good in PSIT Kanpur. You will regret your decision of taking admission there. Following are the reasons why you should not join PSIT Kanpur PSIT Kanpur has very strict rules and regulations and parents have to pay a fine for everything. 90% attendance is compulsory, CCTV cameras are installed inside all the classrooms.  You cannot even sit and study in the library if you have some boring lectures going on.  You will not gain any knowledge even after spending 4 precious years. PSIT Kanpur lacks a competitive environment for GATE, CAT, etc. If a student wishes to prepare for any competition exam, the college rules are so strict that there will be no time left for your preparation Here’s presenting some facts about Mechanical Engineering at PSIT Kanpur - Categories Mechanical Engineering at PSIT Kanpur Course Fee 5.60 lakh Placement Percentage 80-85% Highest CTC 8-10 LPA Average CTC 3.7-4 LPA Recruiting Companies TCS, Infosys, Wipro.
