Maitreyi College: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 5 Reviews

Admission through the ECA Quota at the university is a centralized process where candidates can receive up to a 15% addition to their secured percentage to meet cut-off criteria; an applicant here received an 8% boost for English Debate and Photography achievements. The department has a supportive faculty with a 1:40 teacher-student ratio, featuring eight teachers who share teaching duties each semester. Faculty members are known for their dedication and accessibility, even providing personal contact numbers to students.

Exams are held once per semester, supplemented by internal assessments, with faculty support in exam preparation. The college offers an affordable fee structure, with semester fees at 5,000 INR and subsidized canteen meals at 30 INR, making it economical compared to other Delhi institutions. The active placement cell organizes job interviews and internships with companies like KPMG and Orion, with placements starting in the 6th semester and average packages around 5.2 lakhs.

Sociology students often skip placements, as only about 10% secure jobs due to low job market demand, usually with extra qualifications. Internship opportunities are available through college partnerships with NGOs like CURE INDIA, and an internship fair is held by the placement cell. Many sociology students pursue further studies or government jobs post-graduation. Financial assistance includes student loans and scholarships for economically disadvantaged and reserved category students. BA (Hons) courses have fees starting at 6,980 INR annually, with some courses between 10,000 and 12,000 INR, increasing by about 1,000 INR yearly.

Examination fees range from 1,000 to 1,500 INR per semester. Despite little detailed information on scholarships, these are aimed at supporting low-income and weaker section students.

Fees and Financial Aid:

My course is for 3 yrs and in 1st yr i paid 10,000 then in 2nd yr i paid 11000 and for 3rd year i paid 12000. It was increasing by 1000 every year. Any other extra fee they take is for examination form which is 1000- 1500, every semester depending on different subjects. Fees for every catefory among my batchmates is the same. A lot of scholarship programs are available for people from weaker sections but i don't know much about it as I'm not eligible.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The fee structure of my college is very reasonable. The fee structure of my course is and all BA (Hons) courses are just 6980/year which I think is affordable being a part of higher studies. I have many friends in different colleges and I have seen that my college fee is much much lower than theirs. My college provides many internship opportunities to the students and has a good placement cell. I'm going to be in 2nd year now so hoping for good opportunities in near future too.
