NLDIMSR GMBA FAQs
Ques. What degree do I actually receive after completing the GMBA at NLDIMSR? Will it be recognised in India for government jobs?
Ans. After completing Year 1 at NLDIMSR, you receive a Post Graduate Certificate (PGC) in Global Business. After completing Year 2 at the partner university abroad, you receive an MBA (Master's) degree from that international university (e.g., University of Wisconsin-Parkside, University of Westminster, etc.). The international MBA degree is globally recognised. For recognition in India, the degree from AACSB-accredited US universities is widely accepted by private sector employers. However, for government jobs in India that require an Indian university degree, candidates should verify recognition requirements separately, as the degree is awarded by a foreign university.
Ques. Can I choose which country I want to go to for Year 2? What if I don't get my preferred university?
Ans. Yes, students can express their preference for a partner university from the available options: USA (University of Wisconsin-Parkside or California State University San Bernardino), Canada (University of Winnipeg), UK (University of Westminster), or South Korea (University of TongMyong). The final allocation depends on seat availability, student preference, academic performance in Year 1, and the partner university's admission requirements. NLDIMSR provides full support for the application and admission process for Year 2, including SOP preparation and visa processing.
Ques. What are the actual work opportunities after completing the GMBA abroad? Is OPT guaranteed in the USA?
Ans. Work opportunities vary by country. In the USA, students can work 20 hours/week on campus during studies and are eligible for a 12-month OPT (Optional Practical Training) after graduation - this is a standard benefit for F-1 visa holders and is a work authorisation period, not guaranteed employment. In Canada, students can work 20 hours/week during studies and are eligible for up to 36 months of Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). In the UK, the Graduate Route visa allows working or looking for work after graduation. In South Korea, students can work 20 hours/week during studies and are eligible for a 12-month work program followed by a permanent residency pathway.
Ques. Is GMAT required for the GMBA at NLDIMSR? What if I haven't taken any entrance exam at all?
Ans. No, GMAT is not required. The program accepts CAT, XAT, CMAT, MH-CET, MAT, ATMA, GMAT, or the NL Dalmia Aptitude Test. If you have not taken any of the standard entrance exams, you can appear for the NL Dalmia Aptitude Test, which is conducted by the institute itself. This makes the program accessible to a wide range of candidates, including those who have not prepared for national-level MBA entrance exams.
Ques. What is the total cost of the GMBA program including both years? How does it compare to a direct overseas MBA?
Ans. The total cost includes Year 1 fees at NLDIMSR (India) - which are available on request from the admissions office - and Year 2 fees at the partner university abroad. US universities typically charge approximately USD 14,000-16,000 per year for international students, while Canadian, UK, and South Korean universities have their own fee structures. International scholarships at partner universities can significantly reduce Year 2 costs. Compared to a direct overseas MBA, the GMBA at NLDIMSR offers a significantly more accessible pathway: no GMAT/GRE requirement, no work experience requirement, lower overall cost (especially with scholarships), and comprehensive visa and documentation support from NLDIMSR.
Ques. How does the 1+1 GMBA structure work practically? Do I need to apply separately to the partner university for Year 2?
Ans. In the 1+1 structure, you spend the first 11 months at NLDIMSR in Mumbai completing foundational management studies and earning a Post Graduate Certificate in Global Business. NLDIMSR then facilitates your admission to the partner university for Year 2 - you do not apply independently. The institute provides comprehensive support for the partner university application, SOP preparation, visa processing, and travel arrangements. Credit transfer from Year 1 to the partner university is part of the program structure, and upon completing Year 2, you receive the MBA degree from the partner university.
