Karnataka MBBS Admission 2025: Eligibility

Candidates who would like to apply for MBBS in Karnataka must pass NEET 2025, candidates have completed Class 10 and 12 with PCB and English, with 50% aggregate marks (40% for reserved categories).

The following requirements must be met by applicants for Government seats in the Karnataka MBBS 2025 admission.

  1. Studied in Karnataka (in government or government-recognized schools) for a minimum of seven years before Class 12.
  2. Completed 11 and 12 in Karnataka, and one of their parents has studied in Karnataka for a minimum of seven years.
  3. Students who are native speakers of Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava and parents who studied outside of Karnataka will be required to take a Kannada language test.

Karnataka MBBS Admission 2025: Selection Process

Karnataka MBBS Counselling is conducted by the KEA. 85% of the total seats are reserved for State Quota Students. For these seats, KEA implements an online, multi-round counseling process it typically consists of the first round, second round, mop-up round, and stray vacancies. It is strictly based on NEET rank, eligibility, and reservation category in the state of Karnataka.

The remaining 15% will be allocated through the MCC central rounds, which are equally distributed based on the All-India Quota.

How to apply for Karnataka MBBS Admission 2025?

1. Registration & NEET Eligibility

  • Go to the KEA portal (cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea) and click on “NEET-2025 Online Registration.”
  • Register with your details, NEET roll number, email, and phone.
  • Upload a recent passport-sized photo, signature, and left thumb impression following the specifications.

Pay the registration fee (INR 500-INR 5,500 depending on your category) online or by e-challan.

2. Fill the Application Form

  • Log in with your application ID and password.
  • Fill in your NEET 2025 details, category, domicile, qualifying examination (10th/12th marks, board), and contact details.
  • Upload your documents: photo, signature, thumbprint.

3. Document Verification

  • Visit a KEA center for verification of your documents.
  • You should show the original documents and self-attested photocopies of the required documents like: NEET admit card & score card, 10th/12th mark sheets, study certificates (Clause A), proof of domicile, caste/income certificate (if applicable), language certificates, etc.
  • After you have verification, you will get a verification slip that will have your secret key for choice filling.

4. Choice Filling & Seat Allotment

  • Log back into the portal using your secret key and choose the preferences of the MBBS Course & College.
  • You can make as many choices as you like, lock them by the cut-off date, and take part in the rounds of counseling (Round 1, Round 2, mop-up, stray vacancy)
  • The allotments are based on KEA's reservation criteria & your NEET rank, preferences, and admission criteria (state quota) and MCC's admission reservation criteria (All?India Quota).

5. Fee Payment & Reporting

  • After the seat allotment has been done, you can pay tuition fees through the portal by using online methods or via e-challan.
  • After you have printed the admission order form, you will need to report to the allotted medical college with your original documents within the prescribed time limit.

Karnataka MBBS Admission 2025: Counselling Process

KEA carries out completely online MBBS counseling consisting of several rounds in order to place students into available seats.

  • Mock Allotment: KEA conducts a mock allotment before it runs the real allotment. As well as this allows the students to see what seat they would be assigned if the allotment took place that day, it allows for some adjustments to be made to the students' choices in time for the real allotment.
  • Real Seat Allocation: The first round of KGMB (Karnataka Government MBBS) seat allocation takes place, divided into three rounds. Round 1, Round 2, then Mop-up. Once completed with the rounds, if there are still no seats left, KEA will run a Stray Vacancy Round to fill remaining vacancies.
  • Once the student accepts their seat, they will have to pay fees and then report to the college they have been offered a seat at within a set period to accept their place.
  • KEA has also guaranteed the Stray Vacancy Round to ensure maximum allocation of possible seats as well as introducing applicants with a disabled quota, as well as increased scrutiny to guarantee fairness and transparency.
