Example From Chapter 8 Comparing Quantities
| Ques. If 60% people in a city like the game of cricket, another 30% prefer football and the rest play other games, then what is the percent of the people who like other games? If the total number of people is 50 lakhs, determine the exact number who like each type of game. Soln: No. of people who like cricket = 60% No. of people who like football = 30% Therefore, No. of people who like other games = 100% – (60% + 30%) = 100% – 90% = 10% It is given that, total number of people = 50 lakhs = 50,00,000 Therefore, No. of people who like cricket = 60% of 50,00,000 =(60/100)×5000000 = 30,00,000 or, 30 lakh Number of people who like football = 30% of 50,00,000 =(30/100)×5000000 = 15,00,000 or, 15 lakh Now, No. of people who like the other games = 10% of 50,00,000 =(10/100)×5000000 = 5,00,000 or, 5 lakh |
